Your Responsibilities
The position primarily involves fundamental research in coating processes to create ultra-thin (two-dimensional monolayer thick) films of noble metals, known as metalenes, such as gold, iridium, and platinum. Publication in scientific journals and presentations at international conferences are also part of the position.
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will primarily conduct research. Teaching may also be included in the responsibilities, but at most one-fifth of the working time.
Your Qualifications
To be eligible for the position as a postdoctoral researcher, you must have obtained a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree that is deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree. Your degree must be obtained no later than at the time the employment decision is made.
It is advantageous if your degree was obtained no more than three years before the application deadline for this position. If there are special reasons, someone who obtained their doctoral degree earlier may also be considered, for example, due to various types of statutory leave.
You must have obtained a Swedish doctoral degree in relevant subjects such as materials science, preferably with a focus on thin films, or have a foreign degree that is deemed equivalent.
Qualifications:
- Practical and theoretical proficiency at a high level in vacuum-based thin film synthesis, especially magnetron sputtering.
- Knowledge of physical metallurgy regarding phase diagrams, phase transformations, and atomic diffusion.
- Experience in material characterization, particularly with XRD, XPS, AFM, SEM, FIB, and TEM.
- Excellent analytical and writing skills demonstrated through publications in international peer-reviewed scientific journals.
- High motivation, problem-solving ability, and teamwork skills.
- Fluent communication in English (written and spoken).
Your Workplace
You will work in the Department of Thin Film Physics, located at the Unit of Thin Film Science.
About the Employment
The position is a fixed-term appointment for two years with the possibility of extension for a total employment period of no more than three years. The postdoctoral position is full-time.
