Job Description

The municipalities of Söderköping and Valdemarsvik have a joint environmental office with a responsible board in each municipality. The environmental office has 14 employees, including a manager and an administrator. We work with supervision and assessment in areas such as environmental protection, individual sewage systems, health protection, food safety, and tobacco sales. The office has employees placed in both municipalities, but most are located in Söderköping. The office is part of the Community Building Administration in Söderköping, which also has a joint planning and building office with Valdemarsvik. All are employed by Söderköping Municipality.

We have three working groups: one for food supervision, one for sewage supervision, and one for other environmental and health protection supervision. The working groups for sewage and environmental code supervision each have a team leader who leads the work in the groups. The environmental office works for a good environment and health for all who live, visit, and work in our beautiful archipelago municipalities.

We are now looking for you who want to be part of the sewage group and work with the supervision of individual sewage systems and treatment plants. The work primarily involves supervising individual sewage systems and treatment plants. This largely means conducting inspection visits to assess the functionality of the sewage systems, writing inspection reports, processing applications and notifications, and writing orders and prohibitions. However, other tasks within the environmental office may also become relevant.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a trained environmental and health protection inspector or has other education that we consider equivalent. It is advantageous if you have experience in the environmental inspector profession, especially in individual sewage systems and/or supervision of treatment plants. It is also advantageous if you have good experience in writing orders and prohibitions according to the Environmental Code.

Alongside the requirements for competence and experience, it is important that you are an initiative-taking and engaged person. You have your own drive and find it easy to learn and independently reach set goals. We have a lot of contact with business operators and citizens, so good interpersonal skills and clear communication, along with a positive service-oriented attitude, are important qualities we are looking for. You should have a very good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both spoken and written. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities.

You have good computer skills, and it is advantageous if you have knowledge of or experience with any digital case management system; we use EDP Vision.

A valid B driver's license is a requirement.
