Description

NDPIA (National Doctoral Program in Infections and Antimicrobials) and NDP-VIP (National Doctoral Program in Virus Infections and Pandemics) are two doctoral schools funded by the Swedish Research Council (VR) and are affiliated with UCMR (Umeå Centre for Microbial Research) at Umeå University.

NDPIA and NDP-VIP aim to connect research environments studying infection biology across Sweden by offering courses/workshops, conferences, and networking meetings that promote scientific research and recruitment of young researchers. Membership is open to doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers enrolled at a Swedish university/institution or at any of our international partners studying infection biology.

We are seeking a project coordinator for a full-time position focused on the development, organization, and marketing of courses and national meetings at the doctoral level, membership promotion and updates, and preparing information such as activity reports for board meetings, as well as processing co-funding applications. The position is located at the Department of Clinical Microbiology, Umeå University. Start date as soon as possible or by agreement.

Responsibilities

As a project coordinator, you will work closely with the management of the doctoral schools regarding the organization of courses, workshops, conferences, and meetings. Other tasks include documenting student memberships and activities offered by NDPIA and NDP-VIP.

The role of coordinator for the doctoral schools requires you to work both independently and as part of a team. As a coordinator, you should be flexible, proactive, and organized. The coordinator should be a service-oriented person with excellent communication and organizational skills. It is also crucial that the coordinator can establish good and service-oriented relationships with both the institution's external and internal target groups.

Qualifications

• A thorough understanding of the processes involved in research and related administration.
• A doctoral education in molecular biology or a degree assessed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree in molecular biology.
• Experience in teaching is a requirement for course development.
• Experience in planning and organizing academic events such as conferences, courses, seminars, and workshops in a university environment is required.
• Excellent proficiency in both English and Swedish, both spoken and written.
• Good collaborative skills.

Other desirable qualifications

• You have good knowledge and documented experience in administering and coordinating activities within a doctoral school at a university, including planning, follow-up, and reporting of activities.
• Postdoctoral experience.
• Experience in infection biology.
• Experience coordinating a scientific project.
• Experience organizing public activities, such as open lectures, information days, or scientific events aimed at a broader audience, is an advantage.
• Good knowledge of software programs such as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator, as well as Microsoft 365 applications.
• Good knowledge and experience in managing websites as a web editor, such as WordPress and the publishing tool Episerver.
