Shift Leader at O’Learys Borlänge

About the position: We are now looking for an experienced and dedicated shift leader who wants to help drive the success of O’Learys Borlänge. The role involves supporting the restaurant manager/location manager by leading the staff during shifts, assisting as needed, and ensuring quality across all aspects of the operation including service, bar, kitchen, and activities. The role also includes ensuring that all routines and manuals are followed to guarantee a positive guest experience. You will also work in operations, be flexible, and assist where needed such as in service, as a bartender, or as the activities manager.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Support the Restaurant Manager/Location Manager by leading the staff during your shift and ensuring the operation runs efficiently including service, bar, kitchen, activities, premises, guests, etc.
  • Ensure that checklists are followed and checked during shifts + signed by you as shift leader
  • Plan and prepare the premises and staff for upcoming bookings, including table setup and staffing planning
  • Coach and ensure quality among the staff in all operational areas during shifts
  • Be responsible for sound, visuals, and music throughout the premises and ensure that the correct sports broadcasts are displayed on screens
  • Actively work in operations and be flexible, performing tasks such as service, bartender, or activities manager as needed
  • Ensure functioning cash systems, payment terminals, and other technology during operations
  • Be responsible for resolving and managing any issues that arise during operations and involve relevant parties as needed
  • Be responsible for guest satisfaction and compensation during shifts
  • Ensure opening and closing routines are followed if the Restaurant Manager is not present
  • Handle phone calls and bookings and ensure correct cash handling and daily closing in the absence of the Restaurant Manager
  • Report discrepancies, conduct training, ensure guest well-being, determine staff breaks, and if necessary, send staff home if the Restaurant Manager is not present
  • Actively work with training and feedback for other staff.

Desired experience and qualities:

  • Experience as a shift leader/area manager in a restaurant/bar and good cash handling skills
  • Worked as a bartender and server for several years
  • Fluent in spoken and written Swedish and have good knowledge of English
  • Natural leader, problem solver, relationship builder, and possess strong project management skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
