You will be part of the Nature Management Unit, which currently consists of 15 employees.

The unit works with measures related to protected nature, the state-led system, and nature supervision. As an employee with us, you are part of a larger context where you have the opportunity to contribute to sustainable social development both in Norrbotten, nationally, and internationally.

About the job

As a case officer in the Nature Management Unit, your duties will include monitoring, planning of measures, field inventories, inspection of commissioned tasks, procurement of services, participation in meetings and conferences, as well as reporting. You will also be the local project manager for life2taiga.

The tasks may include:

  • Management and development of protected areas through nature conservation management.
  • Planning of measures such as burning, mowing, boundary marking, and fencing.
  • Being the local project manager for life2taiga.
  • Procurement and call-off of services, writing contracts with contractors, and following up on these.
  • Documentation, reporting, and case handling.
  • Continuous operational development.
  • Coordinating activities with other assignments within the unit and the County Administrative Board.
  • Being responsible for reporting on activities both externally and internally.

The work is constantly evolving, and based on our mission, the tasks may change over time. Therefore, you need to be able to handle changes. This also gives you opportunities to develop and broaden your skills with us.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a suitable university education for the tasks, preferably in forestry, ecology, or biology.
  • Has experience in nature conservation burning.
  • Has documented good computer skills in Microsoft Office programs and GIS.
  • Can express yourself clearly, simply, and understandably both orally and in writing.
  • Has at least a B driver's license.

As a person, you can work in a structured and thorough manner, prioritize and take initiatives. You can independently manage your own work areas but also enjoy collaborating in a group. You will also have contact with many members of the public, which is why we place great emphasis on social skills, judgment, and communication skills.

It is an advantage if you:

  • Have knowledge of protected nature.
  • Have knowledge of public procurement.
  • Have experience in government work.
  • Have experience working in EU-funded projects. Have experience working with people.

Good to know

We use a six-month probationary period.

If you are called for an interview, you may be asked to do a work sample.

Since some jobs with us require a security clearance, you may be required to undergo a security clearance before employment. It includes a security clearance interview and registry check. For some jobs, Swedish citizenship is required.
