After over two decades at the same address, Restaurant Varda has become a natural meeting place for the people of Västerås. Most people, from business guests and families to couples enjoying a romantic evening, feel at home here. The food ranges from classic home-cooked meals to well-prepared fine dining in harmony with a well-stocked bar – all easily accessible in central Västerås.

We are now looking for a passionate sous chef to join our kitchen team. This position is for those seeking a varied and rewarding job in the heart of Västerås, suitable for someone who is confident in their role and never compromises on taste or quality.

To fit into our team, it is important that you are positive and enjoy working both independently and in a group. We assume that you love cooking, and it is appreciated if you are organized and have a structured way of working.

A requirement is a minimum of 5 years of experience and good knowledge of either Swedish or English. We prefer if you have a good understanding of the HACCP system.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing and improving the business together with the management team
• Being involved in kitchen purchases and finances together with the head chef
• Being knowledgeable about current hygiene routines and food handling controls

You should have good social skills and be accustomed to working in a team where you remain calm even under high pressure. Being positive and inspiring your colleagues is considered a given.

What we offer

The position is a permanent full-time position with a probationary period of 6 months, located in central Västerås. Working hours vary – both daytime, evenings, and weekend shifts are included. You will be part of a team of skilled colleagues and have a secure financial employer with thirty years of experience in running successful bars and restaurants.
