Do you want to help strengthen animal protection in our county?

We are a workplace with a wide range of tasks and good development opportunities within animal protection work!

What does the role entail?

At the animal protection unit, we are now looking for two colleagues for summer reinforcement with competence in animal protection work.

The work in the field of animal protection is multifaceted and includes, among other things, animal protection control, handling of cases according to the Animal Welfare Act for dogs and cats, as well as enforcement of animal confiscations. It is exciting, stimulating, and developing to work with us. The assignment involves many contacts at different levels in society, for example with the public, animal keepers, animal health professionals, companies, industry organizations, municipalities, county administrative boards, central authorities, and ministries. Therefore, there are high demands for flexibility and judgment in all these contacts combined with integrity in the exercise of authority.

During the period from May 12 to September 14, you will work with case handling and some control work following reports of inadequate animal care and supervision of dogs. The work mainly involves receiving reports and preparing cases as well as simpler case handling. The work may also involve drafting and presenting decisions as well as other case management, administration, and service. We work divided into groups with a basic focus on one or more tasks. To cover the needs of the operation and depending on experience and competence, the tasks may be expanded to include handling of appeals from the police and enforcing decisions on confiscations.

Are you the one we are looking for?

For this role, we want you to have:

  • a university degree and be an agronomist, ethologist, environmental and health protection inspector, or biologist with a specialization in animal protection, or have other education and background that the employer assesses as equivalent
  • good knowledge of relevant legislation and the risks to animal welfare in different forms of animal husbandry
  • good knowledge of the Office suite
  • good communication skills and can express yourself in Swedish both orally and in writing

It is meritorious if you also have:

  • worked as an animal protection case officer at the County Administrative Board
  • experience in case investigation or work in an authority
  • knowledge of the systems Platina and DSK
  • experience in field control work
  • a driver's license for passenger cars
  • experience working with people in, for example, care, social services, or educational activities

As a person, you are attentive and have good communication skills. The work requires good collaboration skills as you will have a lot of contact with animal owners, operators, and authorities, and close cooperation with colleagues. The work places high demands on being able to plan and drive the work forward effectively and against established timelines. You have the will and ability to contribute to a good work environment. Decisive weight will be placed on your personal qualities.

As an employee at the County Administrative Board, you need to:

  • have the ability to make decisions from a holistic perspective, considering multiple viewpoints
  • understand that a central role for the County Administrative Board is to balance different interests
  • have the ability to prioritize and adapt to work with new tasks or in new contexts.

How we recruit

We ask you to attach your CV and a cover letter, where you briefly and clearly address the requirements profile and explain why we should choose you. You will be asked to answer a number of selection questions when you register your application.
