Controller Manager for Solna City

Do you enjoy driving development work and have solid experience in the controller field? Then we have the position for you! We are looking for someone who wants to be part of the journey to develop the controller unit to meet Solna's future challenges.

About Us

The position of head of the controller unit is located within the Department of Economic and Operational Management at the City Management Administration, and you will report to the Chief Financial Officer. The mission of the controller unit is economic and operational management, planning, monitoring, and analysis work. The unit is responsible for maintaining the municipality's overall economy and providing support to the municipality's administrations, companies, and departments in the planning and monitoring processes.

In addition to the controller unit, the department also includes a procurement and purchasing unit as well as an accounting unit. You will be part of the department's management team and the management group of the City Management Administration.

As the controller manager in Solna City, you will enter an exciting phase where we have now begun a transformation journey to centralize the city's financial functions to create better conditions to meet the challenges that Solna City faces. In this transformation journey, you will play an important role as the controller manager.

What Does the Job Entail?

As the controller manager, you have a central role in the municipality's overall budget, planning, and monitoring processes in close collaboration with the budget strategist and the Chief Financial Officer.

You lead and develop the controller unit's employees and working methods so that controllers work as a strategic key function in the administrations' daily work and ensure that the administrations receive the support they need from central management all the way out into the operations. An important task is to develop the city's analysis and quality work to ensure that the operations achieve the desired outcomes. This includes developing the city's planning and monitoring documents.

The role involves a lot of contact with key individuals within the city. You will be responsible for developing the roles within the controller unit and being an engaged leader in the development work of various key processes, in close collaboration with other units within the department. You support the Chief Financial Officer with analyses and strategic decisions.

Who Are We Looking For?

We are looking for someone who has:

  • a degree in economics at the university level and broad expertise in the economic field
  • at least five years of experience as a controller within public administration, preferably within a municipality
  • leadership experience and previous experience in driving change and development work
  • good general IT skills and experience working in larger decision support systems as well as good knowledge of the Office suite
  • very good ability to express yourself in Swedish both orally and in writing.

To succeed in this assignment, we believe that it is important to have good analytical skills and to be accustomed to formulating decision-making materials and presenting figures and results in a pedagogical manner. You are good at collaborating with many contact points in a changing environment.

In your leadership, you take responsibility for your own development and have the ability to engage and support your employees in their development. You are expected to communicate goals and expectations clearly as well as frameworks and rules of engagement. The communicative ability also includes being able to be receptive, give and receive feedback, create clarity, and coach employees to achieve goals and development.
