Operator/Coordinator - Railway Fault Management Job Responsibilities
Together with your colleagues at the railway traffic control center, you will be responsible for coordinating and documenting urgent deviations in the Swedish Transport Administration's facilities.
Your tasks include monitoring, prioritizing, and managing deviations on the railway. You will do this by receiving incoming phone calls or alarms via various systems, and then operationally alerting, directing, and leading designated contractors for corrective and preventive maintenance. You provide crucial support in the collaboration between emergency services, police, and the Swedish Transport Administration that arises during various types of interventions. You will be in contact with other authorities in connection with accidents and other serious incidents and document all events and actions in our support systems. The work also includes monitoring and managing alarms from surveillance cameras.
An important task is to document all events and actions in our IT and case management systems. When developing or establishing new facilities, you will participate in implementing changes in our function.
Your workplace will be in a control room at the Gothenburg Traffic Center, and the working hours will be according to a shift schedule with hours around the clock and every day of the year.
This position is suitable for you who enjoy working together with others in a team and coordinating/leading events. You thrive in shift work with inconvenient hours. You have an important role for the Swedish Transport Administration and society, and therefore we want to invest in you with a solid internal training at the Swedish Transport Administration School in Ängelholm to help you become comfortable in the role. The job title is Operations Technician.

Additional InformationA prerequisite for working as an operations technician is that you pass a health examination. The Swedish Transport Agency requires health examinations and health status for personnel with significance for traffic safety. In the Swedish Transport Agency's regulations, you can read more about what is required regarding the health examination.

QualificationsSince the work involves monitoring in a control room environment, there are requirements for problem-solving, good attention, multitasking ability, and concentration. You should be able to quickly identify problems that arise in the facility.
This is an operational role, and you should feel comfortable with rapidly changing conditions and be able to adapt to new circumstances while maintaining your composure in stressful situations. The position involves many internal and external contacts that require good collaboration skills. It is important that you feel comfortable quickly handling and compiling information, as well as communicating and conveying messages in a clear and informative manner, while contributing to a good atmosphere.
We are looking for someone who:
- has completed upper secondary education or other education combined with relevant and current work experience that we consider equivalent
- has experience working with multiple digital tools simultaneously across several screens.
- has good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing
- has good vision and normal color vision - it is a prerequisite for working in the position that you pass the health examination
It is meritorious if you:
- have relevant experience working with monitoring/coordinating (e.g., at an alarm center, operations center, or similar)
- have current experience working shifts during days, evenings, nights, and weekends
- have experience working in the railway sector
