Emergency Service Personnel on Standby

As emergency service personnel on standby (part-time firefighter), you work to assist both the community and individuals when accidents occur.

You will constantly face new challenges as you never know in advance what kind of alarms you will receive. These can include fires, traffic accidents, automatic fire alarms, assistance to ambulances and police, and more.

Job Description

The emergency service is subordinate to the General Committee and is responsible for ensuring that the municipality fulfills its obligations under the Act on Protection Against Accidents (LSO).

The emergency service operates from the fire station in Överkalix. In Överkalix, there is an operational capability consisting of a commander and four emergency service personnel on standby around the clock.

Initially, you will be a substitute emergency service personnel on standby when regular staff are absent, primarily during the summer. Normally, you will be on standby every fourth week and must be reachable around the clock, using a pager. Drills and training are conducted regularly, totaling at least 50 hours per year. During standby, you have a response time of 6 minutes in the event of an alarm.

Your primary employer must approve your work as emergency service personnel on standby.

Qualifications

• You must have completed upper secondary education
• You live and work in Överkalix central area to be able to respond to alarms within 6 minutes
• You must be able to leave your regular job when an alarm occurs
• You will undergo training provided by the employer.

Requirements

A driver's license with B category and access to a car is required. C category is desirable.

You must be able to pass the following:

The employment may start with a probationary period.
