Job Responsibilities

As a special education teacher, you will be part of the school's student health team along with the school nurse, counselor, and career advisor. The municipal school psychologist is also someone you will have the opportunity to work closely with.

Your work will include:

• Identifying needs and areas for development at the organizational, group, and individual levels
• Being proactive and outreach-oriented, and actively collaborating with school staff, guardians, and external actors
• Working closely with students and supporting those in need of adjustments and special support – individually, in groups, or in regular teaching situations
• Supporting teachers in adapting the learning environment at both group and individual levels
• Assisting teachers in designing and evaluating additional adjustments
• Participating in screening, mapping, and investigations of students' needs for special support
• Establishing action plans
• Being able to work as a special teacher alongside the role of special education teacher if needed.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a licensed high school teacher, preferably in mathematics, who has further education as a special education teacher. You have extensive experience in teaching and working with youth, and as a person, you are engaged and positive. You are attentive in your pedagogical leadership and have the ability to motivate and work with teachers to create learning environments focused on motivation and variation. You are updated on compensatory aids and have good knowledge of digital learning processes. You have strong collaborative skills and build trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians. You work reflectively and systematically and can organize your work both independently and collaboratively with colleagues. You are secure and stable in your professional role and have good communication skills in both spoken and written form.

To succeed in this role, you have:

• Education in special education
• Experience working in high school
• Experience working with children and youth in an educational environment
• Knowledge of adapting teaching based on individual needs
• Experience mentoring teachers

It is an advantage if you have:

• Knowledge of special educational aids and methods
• Knowledge and experience teaching mathematics
• Experience with the special support module in the learning platform Vklass
• Experience in teamwork in a school
