The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand, and client transport.

The Skogome facility is the largest prison in Sweden for men convicted of sexual offenses in security class 2. There is also a smaller psychiatric care unit. The Skogome prison opened in 1957 and is located at Lillhagsvägen 301 on Hisingen in Gothenburg. The prison currently has about 250 employees distributed among several different professional groups and competencies. The prison is currently undergoing new construction, which will ultimately result in double the number of places, more modern facilities, and larger spaces for treatment and employment.

The mission of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service is to prepare individuals who are incarcerated for a life without crime and drugs. For inmates placed in the prison, there are employment opportunities in the prison's laundry, studies in basic/high school education, and other types of activities to better equip them for life outside the walls.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The kitchen staff at the Skogome prison prepares meals for all inmates and staff. In your upcoming role as kitchen manager, you will lead the daily work and work closely with the prison officer who has formal personnel responsibility. As kitchen manager, you will be responsible for work leadership, planning, quality assurance, invoice management, and purchasing within the given budget. You are expected to drive your own processes, be innovative and proactive, and have a sustainability mindset within the given budget.

As kitchen manager, it is important that you are attentive, listen to your colleagues, and utilize the knowledge and initiative present in the group. Furthermore, you will be responsible for self-control and food hygiene according to applicable laws and routines. In addition to the administrative parts of the position, you are also expected to contribute to the daily work alongside other chefs.

QUALIFICATIONS

You should be confident in your leadership and enjoy developing and improving operations together with your colleagues. We are looking for someone who is attentive, stable, structured, and service-oriented. You remain calm and controlled in stressful situations and collaborate well with others. You have good judgment and are self-sufficient in that you take responsibility for your tasks, lead work, and structure your and your colleagues' work. It is also very important that you are good at communicating, are self-assured, and are a good listener. You will also be involved in the startup of our new large kitchen in 2026, where you will play an important role in planning and implementation.

Requirements:

• A complete restaurant or large-scale kitchen education at the high school level or other education combined with experience deemed relevant by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
• Experience working in large kitchens
• Experience in a supervisory position within a kitchen
• Experience handling invoices, orders/purchases
• Good knowledge of food hygiene and self-control
• Good knowledge of special diets and allergies
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form
• Good computer skills

Meritorious:

• Experience in a role that includes responsibility for the work environment
• Experience in change management within kitchens
• Other education deemed relevant by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
