RegeringskanslietStockholms län, Stockholm
Previous experience is desired
Office for Foreign and Security Policy Affairs, National Security Council, Prime Minister's Office
We are looking for someone with extensive and current experience in foreign and security policy issues, with particularly good knowledge of Eastern Europe, primarily Russia and Ukraine. We offer the right person a central role with significant responsibility at the heart of current events.
Your workday. Sweden's tomorrow.
As a senior officer placed at the Prime Minister's Office for Foreign and Security Policy Affairs, you will primarily work with issues related to Eastern Europe, mainly Russia and Ukraine, together with the other officers in the office. Other geographical and thematic areas will be added. Since the position is located in a relatively small office that operates in an environment influenced by the global situation, where new political priorities can quickly take effect, the tasks may change rapidly.
Your work includes planning, preparing materials for, executing, and following up on the Prime Minister's international commitments (trips, visits, discussions, conferences, speeches, etc.) outside the EU, as well as similar tasks for the National Security Advisor. Another main task is to provide informative and advisory support within the areas of responsibility for the Prime Minister and the National Security Advisor. Your duties will also include assisting the activities and meetings of the National Security Council.
The work is varied and requires a good ability to work independently at a fast pace. It involves many contacts, both internationally and nationally within the Prime Minister's Office and with other authorities and organizations. A number of business trips will be necessary.
Your background
We are looking for someone with extensive and current experience in foreign and security policy issues, with particularly good knowledge of Eastern Europe, primarily Russia and Ukraine. You have a university degree in a relevant field.
The position requires very good knowledge of and experience in Swedish public administration and the working methods and processes of the Prime Minister's Office, as well as experience working in a politically governed organization. Therefore, it is a requirement that you have many years of experience from the Prime Minister's Office, and we view positively if you have worked closely with political leadership. Experience from relevant authorities, especially the Armed Forces or foreign missions, or from an international organization, is an asset.
You have an excellent ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in both Swedish and English, and preferably also in other languages. You are very experienced in producing, analyzing, and delivering high-quality materials, giving presentations, and leading meetings and work processes.
Your qualities
As a person, you are used to taking initiative, driving issues forward, and following up. You feel comfortable in a role with many contact points, are flexible, and have a good ability to take a leading role and create consensus on issues that involve many stakeholders. You are used to working independently but also appreciate collaborating with others. You have excellent collaborative skills and find it easy to create, maintain, and develop relationships. It is important that you can deliver high-quality materials even under time pressure. Good judgment and high integrity are prerequisites. An established national and international network in foreign and security policy is an advantage.
