Vocational Teacher in Painting at Dackeskolan

We are Mjölby Municipality. Together we provide services and support, build communities, and exercise authority. Our work benefits society with a focus on the best interests of the citizen – throughout their lives.

Dackeskolan, with approximately 280 students, is centrally located in Mjölby. We offer vocational programs that enable our students to start working immediately after graduation while also obtaining eligibility for higher education. Our programs include construction and civil engineering, electrical and energy, automotive and transport, industrial technology, goldsmithing, as well as restaurant and food. We also have an adapted upper secondary school offering two national programs and an individual program.

At Dackeskolan, we focus on providing our students with a high-quality education where their learning and development are at the center. For the upcoming school year, we are expanding our construction and civil engineering program with a specialization in painting and are therefore looking for a vocational teacher for this specialization.

Do you want to make a difference for our students?

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a vocational teacher, you are responsible for planning, implementing, and following up on the teaching. You are responsible for creating a varied and engaging teaching approach that combines theory and practice, as well as assessing and documenting students' knowledge development. You create a safe, inspiring, and inclusive learning environment where students have the opportunity to develop both professionally and as individuals.

You collaborate with colleagues, program teams, and school management to develop teaching and ensure that it maintains high quality and aligns with both governing documents and industry development.

An important part of the role is to maintain close contact with the industry, both in coordinating students' workplace-based learning (APL) and contributing to the development of the program in line with industry needs.

Through your engagement and professional knowledge, you help students develop a strong professional identity and provide them with the best conditions to step into the painting profession after graduation.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with solid experience as a painter. You have knowledge of current materials, methods, tools, machines, and environmental requirements within the painting industry. A vocational teacher's degree with a specialization in painting is an advantage. Also, pedagogical experience or familiarity with mentoring apprentices/students is advantageous. A B driver's license is required.

You have good subject knowledge and use varied pedagogical methods to spark curiosity, interest, and motivation in students. You are a clear and confident leader who builds good relationships and creates a positive classroom climate. You provide continuous feedback and guide students in their knowledge development in relation to the goals.

You plan and organize your work in a structured way and find it easy to set goals, organize resources, follow up, and complete activities. You have good stress tolerance, handle difficult situations calmly, and remain positive in the face of challenges. You are also open to feedback and use it for personal development. You collaborate well with people in various contexts and functions. You build and maintain good relationships, both within the school and with external partners.

We are a secure and sustainable employer. Large enough to offer employees good working conditions and exciting development opportunities. Small enough for close collaboration, participation, and influence.

With a focus on our mission to benefit society, we allow space for personal responsibility and creativity. Together, we drive the municipality and sustainable community development forward.
