Research Position in Electronic Warfare against Radar Systems

FOI, the Total Defence Research Institute, is one of Europe's leading institutes for applied research in defense and security. FOI is an authority under the Ministry of Defence, tasked with conducting research, method and technology development, and investigations for total defense, as well as supporting disarmament, non-proliferation, and international security. About the Position

As a researcher, you will conduct applied research in the field of electronic warfare against radar systems. Your work will cover several parts of the development chain, including theoretical analyses, model development, participation in field trials, system testing, as well as the preparation of reports and presentations for our clients. You will have the opportunity to tailor your tasks based on your background and interests to ensure they match both your skills and ambitions.

About the Unit

You will be part of the unit for Electronic Warfare against Radar Systems, which belongs to the Electronic Warfare department. Electronic warfare is an important research area that involves gaining an advantage in the use of the electromagnetic spectrum. The goal is to detect and extract information from the opponent's radar signals and to disrupt their sensors, while also protecting one's own sensors from the opponent's electronic warfare.

Do you have the competence profile we need?

Requirements

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following:

  • have a doctoral degree in electrical engineering, technical physics, signal processing, applied mathematics, or another relevant field assessed as equivalent
  • have experience in signal processing and data analysis
  • have experience working with computational programs such as Matlab, Python, R
  • have a good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English

Meritorious

It is advantageous if you have previous experience with radar, electronic warfare, antennas, and microwave technology.

The position is a permanent employment that may begin with a six-month probationary period.
