The specialized medicine area 2 in Helsingborg includes infectious medicine, lung medicine, gastro medicine, diagnostic center, neurology and stroke care, as well as rheumatology.

The lung medicine and allergy section includes consultation services, outpatient services, and a ward shared with gastro medicine, totaling 21 beds. Within the framework of the outpatient services, investigations are conducted according to standardized care pathways (SVF) for lung cancer, as well as treatment and follow-up. Currently, the lung section employs specialists in internal medicine and lung medicine, as well as a specialist in oncology focusing on lung cancer.

At the diagnostic center (DC), patients are offered a safe, efficient, and structured investigation, mainly on an outpatient basis, with the shortest possible waiting time and a person-centered approach in teams. SVF for serious unspecified symptoms (AOS) and SVF for suspected cancer with unknown primary tumor (CUP). We work with a person-centered approach closely in teams with doctors, contact nurses, and coordinators/medical secretaries. Currently, doctors with specialist competence in oncology and palliative medicine and contact nurses with extensive clinical expertise work at DC.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We now wish to complement our operation with a specialist in oncology focusing on lung cancer who wants to lead and develop the work within both lung oncology and the diagnostic center. The position is divided between lung medicine and work at the diagnostic center. As a specialist physician/consultant, your work will mainly take place at the lung clinic or the outpatient clinic at the diagnostic center. Your role also includes consultations within the area of operation and with other units within the hospital as well as with primary care.

At the Diagnostic Center, you will work person-centered in interdisciplinary teams with contact nurses and medical secretaries. Both in the outpatient clinic, as a consultant for primary care physicians, and in hospitals, you will also participate in targeted educational initiatives for doctors and other staff. The Diagnostic Center has active local, national, and Nordic cooperation with other diagnostic centers.

The lung and allergy clinic is closely connected to the oncology treatment unit where lung doctors/oncologists are responsible for the medical treatment of lung cancer. We have close cooperation with the thoracic surgical department and the oncology department at Skåne University Hospital in Lund, including multidisciplinary lung oncology conferences. Our ambition is to drive research in both non-malignant and malignant lung diseases in the future. Mentoring junior colleagues at various levels and medical students is part of your daily work, as well as close collaboration with other professions.

Together with your colleagues, you will develop the content of care, and there are good opportunities for personal professional development. Our ambition is to conduct research in both non-malignant and malignant lung diseases in the future. There is also the possibility to conduct research at the diagnostic center. If you have research ambitions, it is very possible to combine clinical service with research.

QUALIFICATIONS

We welcome you who are a licensed physician with the authority to practice within Swedish healthcare and with specialist competence in oncology. A good command of the Swedish language corresponding to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s scale is required. You have at least one year of experience with the latest oncological treatments and care of lung cancer patients, and it is advantageous if you are also specialized in palliative medicine.

It is a prerequisite that you are experienced in treating lung cancer patients with chemotherapy/immunotherapy and targeted therapy. We also see that you have worked in inpatient care with patients with various types of malignancies and have experience in palliative medicine or have completed a palliative medicine course during your specialty training.

If you are a PhD, have experience in teaching and academic research work, this is considered meritorious. Likewise, if you speak other languages than Swedish.

You have good communication skills in both spoken and written language, and you are accustomed to and enjoy working in teams.
