We are looking for a chef for the Food Service in Ale Municipality

About the workplace

The Food Service is part of the Service Administration in Ale Municipality.

The Service Administration is tasked with providing qualitative service to Ale Municipality's core activities in a professional and resource-efficient manner.

Through our work, we ensure that the municipality's special accommodations, schools, and preschools receive good, safe, nutritious meals with great variety. In Ale, we strive to cook from scratch, use Swedish ingredients, and make climate-smart choices. The food service consists of around 90 employees and about 40 kitchens.

Job Responsibilities

As a chef, your responsibilities include preparing and serving delicious and nutritious meals. In our kitchens, you will cook a lot from scratch, have seasonal menus, and actively work to reduce food waste. You will be responsible for food safety, ensuring that labeling and content of special diets are correct. Other tasks include ordering, planning, dishwashing, and cleaning.

As a pool chef, you will be a member of our important pool team, filling in during absences. You will work broadly across all kitchens in Ale Municipality, serving everyone from our youngest guests in preschool to the elderly in our special accommodations. This means you should be able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

You have a 3-year high school education in the restaurant and food program with a focus on cooking or another education that the employer considers equivalent. You have worked in a production kitchen and, of course, have the guests' needs in focus. Good collaboration skills and a strong sense of service are very important qualities. The job requires high flexibility as you will work in several locations. You are solution-oriented, can plan your day, and be self-sufficient. You see opportunities in working in multiple kitchens and are motivated to develop the operations, maintain budgets, and meet set goals.

You have very good theoretical and practical knowledge of cooking for special diets. You have knowledge of self-control, food hygiene, and its documentation.

You have good computer skills.

You need to have a good command of the Swedish language, both spoken and written. It is part of the job to read and follow recipes, routines, and instructions, as well as communicate with colleagues, orderers, and guests.

You are positive, have a high sense of service, and enjoy delivering quality.

A driving license (B) is desirable. The work is scheduled during daytime on weekdays.

Since the job involves contact with children, you must be able to present a police record extract upon a job offer.
