The mission of our team is to create value for our customers, both by offering decentralized solutions consisting of solar energy and energy storage solutions – i.e., clean, distributed, and renewable energy – as well as services related to these products. Another key area for our team is to connect and optimize the energy system where connected decentralized energy resources (DER) create value in the form of flexibility needed to stabilize the national grid, manage imbalances in energy trading, grid overloads, etc., thus providing significant benefits to society. As a Product Area Manager within Customers & Solutions (C&S) Nordics, you will work with our team to develop the DES operations in Sweden and Finland. Your specific focus will be to take responsibility for a product area that includes the entire product lifecycle from strategy and planning to implementation, including go-to-market and launch, as well as post-analysis, continuous development, maintenance, and potential future phasing out.
About the Role
In the role of Product Area Manager, you will work alongside the rest of the team and be the expert regarding your product area, meaning for the existing products and those under development. The role aims to achieve revenue and customer satisfaction goals within given budgets and timelines. Balancing business objectives, customer needs, and technical considerations on one hand and ensuring that long-term goals are met on the other. Responsibilities include defining the product strategy and vision, including the go-to-market strategy within the product area, which should align with DES's overall product portfolio and Business Unit Customer Nordics strategy and goals.
Collaboration with external partners as well as other parts of DES and Vattenfall is an important part of the daily work that includes people, processes, and technology.
In the role, you will be responsible for:
- Managing and handling the DES portfolio's products throughout the product lifecycle to ensure the ability to offer customers competitive, CSR- and legally compliant marketable and billable products at all times.
- Defining product strategy and vision, including go-to-market strategy within the product area.
- Being responsible for the product's profitability, which includes calculating and setting floor prices for newly developed products.
- Creating and maintaining a roadmap for the development and launch of products and features within the product area.
- Continuously gathering market/regulatory/competitor input as well as customer feedback from various sources, and defining requirements for new/improved products/features.
- Managing prioritization in various forums within DES as well as the product backlog for the product area.
- Actively supporting DES Market Operations on product-related topics.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with external partners such as wholesalers and technical partners, as well as internal stakeholders within BU/BA/Vattenfall, including maintaining ownership of contracts with technical partners within the product area.
- Monitoring product performance from relevant perspectives and taking action as needed.
- Contributing to business development: developing and improving the methods required for product management and ensuring compliance with Vattenfall's rules and regulations.
Qualifications
- Academic degree as a Civil Engineer or equivalent.
- At least 7-9 years of experience in a similar position.
- Experience working as a product manager or leading large projects with many stakeholders.
- Good understanding of the energy landscape.
- Good understanding of opportunities within the rapidly emerging digital area.
- Good understanding of the business logic in various business segments.
- Fluent in spoken and written Swedish and English. Finnish is a merit.

- An ability to not only understand customer needs but also to translate them into relevant offers, services, and solutions of high quality.
- A "get things done" mentality; the ability and courage to work on topics of both operational and strategic nature with a focus on the big picture.
- Genuine team spirit; supporting and sparring with each other is crucial for success and is something you endorse and enjoy doing.
- The ability to drive change and work in large and complex organizations and to effectively manage internal and external interfaces and collaborations, which sometimes requires flexibility, thinking outside the box, and the ability to remain calm regardless of the situation.
