to apply for the job
Do you want to experience the variety and excitement of working with the District Veterinarians, investigating why a dog is limping, a rabbit is scratching, or a hen is coughing? Pulling a calf, treating a cow at sunrise, helping a colicky horse on a winter night while being prepared to investigate a salmonella suspicion? Do you want to be one of us, who respond in our red cars regardless of weather, wind, or time of day? We make a difference when others are sleeping or lying on the beach, we limit infection, stand up for animal welfare, and tirelessly work for healthy food and against antibiotic resistance in society. We treat sick animals as well as work with planned, preventive healthcare.
To ensure that all animals in Sweden have the best possible conditions to live a good life, the District Veterinarians exist. With round-the-clock preparedness, clinics across the country, and unique knowledge of animal health, we contribute to healthier animals and safer lives for a sustainable society. We work with private individuals, companies, and authorities, offering services for emergency veterinary care, infection control, and preventive measures for good animal health. We are part of the Swedish Board of Agriculture. We are the clinic that is passionate about professional development and where you never work alone.
Our veterinary staff consists of 11 members, allowing us to maintain double preparedness, meaning that there are always two veterinarians working together during on-call duty. We have several licensed veterinary nurses, animal caregivers, receptionists, and also licensed BMA, which is a great strength in our investigations. Here, you will work daily with a nurse, alongside a mentor in surgery, or why not accompany your veterinary colleague out in the field to solve the day's tasks. The clinic has a fresh, modern style and is one of the largest within the District Veterinarians, centrally located in the city. In January 2023, we also opened the doors to our brand new equine clinic at the same address. Here, you can develop in whatever area you desire, from internal medicine, surgery, dentistry, imaging diagnostics, lameness investigations to emergency care for all species. Our work is divided between small animals at the clinic and large animals in the field, and now also work at our equine clinic for those who wish.
Our preparedness and 24/7 service give us the opportunity for broad basic competence across several species, but there is also the possibility to focus on a specific species as we maintain double preparedness.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As a veterinarian with us, you will work with small animals at the clinic and/or large animals in the field or with horses at the clinic, and our clients are largely pre-booked patients. On-call duty is also a natural part of the job, where you will meet our patients across several species, but there is the option to choose only small animals or large animals since we always have two veterinarians on call.
Our small animal clinic is well-equipped, and there is an opportunity for day care at the clinic. All common outpatient examinations and investigations can be performed, as well as surgical procedures.
We offer good opportunities for development, further education, and deepening in areas of interest for those who wish. We prefer that you work with all species, but there is the option to choose, for example, only small animals or horses.
QUALIFICATIONS
As a colleague, you enjoy sharing your knowledge and developing your own skills and abilities. You are an engaged and solution-oriented team player who supports, coaches, and works for the team's best and towards common goals. We place great importance on you being a person who functions well in a group and contributes to a pleasant atmosphere.
Swedish veterinary license and a B driver's license are required.
We look forward to your application!
