Region North has approximately 1100 employees and consists of Norrbotten, Västerbotten, Jämtland, Västernorrland, Gävleborg, and Dalarna counties, covering all correctional services in the area from Falun in the south to Gällivare in the north. The regional office's task is to lead, plan, and operationally support and coordinate the work of the operational areas to implement imposed penalties, conduct remand center operations, and perform personal investigations in criminal cases. The regional office must implement and ensure the execution of the national assignments given in the operational plan and follow up on the established goals and results. To support the regional manager's leadership and management of the operational areas, there are several subject matter experts within prison, remand, probation, capacity increase, preparedness, and health care. Section managers and administrative functions are also part of the regional office's organization. The regional office is located in Härnösand.
