We are looking for a Tree Safety Leader for the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket).

This is a consultancy assignment.

The position is part-time, with a workload between 50-80 percent.

The assignment involves close collaboration with the client, which places high demands on flexibility and teamwork.

The Assignment and Work Area

Along Sweden's railways, forests grow very close to the tracks. To ensure that trees do not fall onto the tracks, maintenance is carried out in the form of tree safety measures, felling of hazardous trees or stands, and clearing of vegetation to achieve a more robust track. Another important measure involves increasing visibility by removing obstructive vegetation.

Through a government assignment, the Swedish Transport Administration implements measures to enhance safety at level crossings. One of the measures involves ensuring visibility at unmonitored level crossings, pedestrian and bicycle paths, and snowmobile crossings. This is done by the Swedish Transport Administration establishing sight easements on others' land when necessary. Subsequently, felling and vegetation clearing are carried out in these areas to guarantee the correct sight distance. These measures are implemented nationwide.

Within the National Program for Tree Safety, the consulting contractor will primarily work to obtain voluntary land access to reduce the number of disturbances caused by trees/vegetation along the railway.

The assignment consists of the following:

• Contact landowners via phone and email to check if voluntary land access can be obtained.

• Act as a Tree Safety Leader both within sight easements and the tree safety project in larger or smaller sub-projects.

• Be able to act as an assistant project manager when the regular project manager is busy or cannot participate for other reasons.

• Preparation of management information prior to handover to the base contract.

• Plan for easements regarding tree safety within detailed plan areas.

• Coordinate tree safety within municipal land and detailed plan areas with affected property owners.

As the work involves many internal and external contacts, it is important that you are relationship-building, pedagogical, and have good collaboration skills. You are solution-oriented, flexible, and proficient in Swedish, both spoken and written. The person performing the assignment should be goal- and results-oriented with a good ability to follow up on work regarding time and cost.

Requirements (IMPORTANT, mandatory)

Hold a valid B driver's license. At least three years of experience working in tree safety projects along railways or power lines. Training in basic risk tree assessment. At least two years of experience in project management within infrastructure projects. Contract law. SoS leader. Builder's work environment responsibility.
