What We Do and Want

The Central Child and Student Health Service in Tyresö municipality falls under the Department of Education and includes the health and medical care services of the student health team with school psychologists, school doctors, school nurses, as well as the educational services of the student health team with its staff at the municipality's Resource and Development Center (RUC), attendance strategists, resource coordinators, and the municipality's return school.

The management consists of two heads of operations; one for the educational services of student health and one for its health and medical services.

About the Position

We are now looking for two full-time school psychologists to be appointed in August in connection with the start of the school year 25/26. The positions are central with the following planned division:

  • Position 1: permanent position that includes adapted primary school and two secondary schools.
  • Position 2: temporary position for a parental leave employee that extends until June 2026 and includes one F-6 and one F-9 school. This position will also have an extra focus on conducting cognitive assessments.

The Psychological Services of Student Health (EPI) includes seven psychologists, one of whom has psychological leadership responsibility. Each psychologist is part of a student health team at two to three units each and carries out assignments distributed from other units. As a school psychologist in Tyresö municipality, you have a strength in the group through your central employment where you always have your colleagues close at hand. EPI meets continuously for meetings including collegial supervision, distribution of assignments, professional development, and quality work. You contribute with a psychological perspective and competence regarding promoting, preventing, and remedial work within schools and preschools. The focus of your work is to support students' development towards the goals of education by providing knowledge about learning and development as well as mental health and illness. You have the child's best interests in focus and convey psychological knowledge at the individual, group, and organizational levels.

As a psychologist in Tyresö municipality, you will work with:

  • collaborating with student health and the principal in the student health team
  • systematically working to map and analyze the needs of students and the school, suggesting and implementing health-promoting and preventive measures, as well as evaluating and developing health-promoting and preventive measures.
  • conducting investigations regarding intellectual disabilities
  • offering supervision to individual staff at the school, work teams, or other groups
  • in dialogue with guardians assisting with assessments and referrals when care measures outside the school are needed
  • participating in the psychological services of student health's work with systematic quality work
  • giving lectures to staff, guardians, and students about mental health and illness

Who Are You?

We are looking for you who are a licensed psychologist and have experience in conducting cognitive assessments of children, working based on learning theory, and have good knowledge in developmental psychology.

It is meritorious if you have previous experience working as a psychologist in schools and/or preschools. Furthermore, experience from work in habilitation/Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, experience in psychological assessments, or experience working with TBA/PBS, as well as experience in supervision and consultative work is meritorious. Since the permanent position is directed towards, among other things, adapted schools, it is particularly meritorious for that position (position 1) to have previous experience and work with the target group.

We are looking for someone who has a strong commitment to making a difference in the health of children and young people. As a person, you are responsible and can work independently as well as collaborate in a team. You have a good ability to prioritize and organize your work. You have good social and relational skills. You have good pedagogical skills and enjoy conveying psychological knowledge in a way adapted to the recipient. Furthermore, you are interested in quality and organizational development and have the ability to think holistically. Great importance will be placed on personal suitability.
