Job Advertisement: Nurse for the Surgical Emergency Care Unit

The Surgical Center is a regional clinic located in Umeå and Skellefteå. The clinic is responsible for surgery in the northern healthcare region, which includes the four northernmost counties. The clinic is divided into sections for urology, breast and endocrine surgery, vascular, colorectal, and upper gastrointestinal surgery.

We are now working to establish a brand new department at the Surgical Center - a Surgical Emergency Care Unit (KAVA), to manage the acute influx of surgical patients primarily coming through the Emergency Department.

Therefore, we are looking for nurses who want to help build something new and start a ward that exclusively cares for acute surgical patients. This may involve abdominal observations, appendicitis infections, gallstone issues, bowel obstructions, surgical and traumatic injuries. We are convinced that those who will work in the new Surgical Emergency Care Unit will have a very exciting and stimulating job. Together with engaged colleagues, you will contribute to creating something new and building a team with expertise for acute and traumatic surgical patients. The new Surgical Emergency Care Unit is initially planned to be set up with 8 beds, which will also contribute to the Surgical Center at NUS caring for its own surgical patients to a greater extent and reducing satellite procedures.

As a newly graduated nurse, you will also be part of the region's introduction year for nurses with regular meetings and training. We actively work with mentorship on the ward and have trained mentors assigned to you as a new employee. We actively schedule time for reflection and education after onboarding.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a nurse with us, you contribute knowledge and commitment that makes people feel safe. You will work within a broad surgical area focusing on emergency care and trauma care.

As a nurse, you play an important role in the care team where you collectively are responsible for daily care, nutrition, mobilization, wound care, and other tasks. You work closely with patients, and your work includes identifying risks, assessing, addressing, and evaluating patients' various care needs. You will have an important role in leading, prioritizing, and coordinating care work together with your care team. There may be opportunities for rotation, which means you can rotate through our sections to enhance your surgical competence.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse. We consider it an advantage if you have experience in surgery or emergency care.
