The Social Care Administration in Borås City is responsible for the municipality's services for people with disabilities, social psychiatry, and health and medical care for the mentioned target groups. The administration has about 1000 employees and 45 managers. Reliever/Companion

Job Responsibilities

Reliever:

Relief service at home means that you take over from relatives in the caregiving work for a child or youth with a disability. This gives relatives the opportunity for leisure, personal activities, and recovery.

The relief service means that a reliever comes to your home and temporarily takes over the responsibility for care. The person then receives individually tailored support in their daily life.

The relief can be performed during daytime, evenings, and nights as well as on weekends. You and the relatives decide for yourselves when the relief should take place. Relief at home can be provided both as a regular service and in situations that the relatives cannot foresee.

Companion:

Companion service is an intervention for those who have a disability and need support to get out into society.

A companion supports by accompanying individuals to and from activities that they cannot manage on their own. For example, visiting friends, going for a walk, running errands, or participating in cultural activities.

Companion service aims to provide increased opportunities for social contacts and participation in society on equal terms with everyone else. As a companion, you will arrive at the person's home or another meeting place at the desired time and accompany them to and from their activity.

In this role, which is a combined reliever/companion for about 24 hours per month, you will work outside Borås city center with a cheerful 17-year-old boy who enjoys having fun and has a good sense of humor. Due to his disabilities, he needs a lot of support in his daily life, such as assistance with social relationships, routines, and personal care. The boy enjoys going on activities like swimming and going to the movies, but he also likes to stay home and play video games or build with Lego. He loves music, and going to concerts is one of his favorite things. You need to be able to work weekends, as the services will mostly be performed on weekends, and every Friday at 6:00 PM, he needs companionship and support at scouts.

Qualifications

You should have a strong commitment and interest in other people and a desire to build a long-lasting relationship. You need to be responsible, and it is advantageous if you have some form of caregiving education. Ideally, you should be a bit younger and share the boy's interests, as well as have proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written, to facilitate his communication. A driver's license and car are required since the family lives outside Borås city center and public transport is limited. We place great emphasis on personal suitability, and you should be able to provide a police record extract.
