Ward 348B/KAVA at Östra Hospital is a surgical emergency care ward where patients come from the emergency department.

The majority of patients are treated for diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. The patient turnover is high, with an average length of stay of just under 3 days, providing a varied and challenging everyday life.

We work person-centered in teams with nurses, nursing assistants, and doctors. The work involves investigation and assessment of acutely ill patients, some of whom are treated to completion with us while others are referred to specialist departments. This offers an opportunity to gain broad competence in various surgical diagnoses.

What will your tasks look like?

You will work with common tasks for nurses, which means a varied and stimulating workday - where you make a difference! In short, the work involves regular assessments of vital parameters and abdominal status, rounds, admitting patients from the emergency department, preparing patients for examinations and surgeries, as well as medication management and sample collection. You will have a leading role in the work around the patient and coordinate for acute surgeries, examinations, and discharges.

Who are we looking for?

If you are, or will soon be, a licensed nurse, you could be our new colleague! Knowledge and/or experience in emergency care and surgical care is an advantage for the position.

To succeed in the role, you enjoy handling a varied everyday life and are skilled at reprioritizing and meeting each patient based on their specific needs. Your ability to delegate and collaborate is very important for the position. You take a leading role when the situation requires it and are good at communicating in meetings with patients and relatives.

If you are a recent graduate nurse, you will be part of the Clinical Base Year, which is our introductory program. The Clinical Base Year is mandatory and lasts for the first year of your employment with us. It includes lectures, nursing supervision, and practical training of your profession at the Simulator Center. In addition, it also includes observation in other operations.

In the event of recruitment of nurses/doctors with foreign licenses/specialist certificates, the current position will be preceded by a process to meet the requirements for Swedish licenses/specialist certificates.
