EKEN Financing is looking for a curious and ambitious junior developer who wants to help shape how we use data, remote sensing, and smart system solutions to transform the future of forestry.

About EKEN

EKEN Financing was founded in 2020 at the intersection of forestry, climate science, finance, and technology. Our business idea is simple yet powerful: by enabling companies to invest in certified carbon credits, we can finance more sustainable forestry in Sweden – allowing forests to remain and grow, rather than being cut down.

We utilize remote sensing to analyze and assess the carbon storage potential of forest properties using satellite and LiDAR data. The goal is to enhance forest growth, resilience, and biodiversity – while creating economic benefits for both forest owners and the climate.

About the role

You will work closely with the co-founders and take an active role in further developing an existing technical system that currently relies on Python (with Flask), SQL, and geodata analysis. The system has evolved in line with the needs of the business and serves as the hub for how we identify, analyze, and contract forests – from data collection to business agreements.

Your work will involve structuring, improving, and building upon the system to make it more scalable and sustainable in the long term. You will work on everything from data management and system integration to production deployment and technical exploration. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence technology choices and direction at an early stage.

The role also provides the opportunity to explore and work with exciting technologies such as Machine Learning, radar- and satellite-based remote sensing, and digital twins of forest areas.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a junior developer who is technically curious, self-driven, and eager to learn. You do not need to have several years of experience, but you should have an interest in building things from the ground up and an analytical mindset for technology.

You are someone who does not give up at the first obstacle but sees learning as a natural part of everyday life – especially in a startup environment where the path forward is shaped along the way.

We believe you have:

• A technical university degree of at least three years
• Knowledge of Python and SQL
• An interest in system development, data flows, and database design
• Good communication skills and can express yourself well in Swedish

Extra points if you have experience with data-heavy systems or have worked with geodata in projects or thesis work.
