About Vallaskolan
Vallaskolan is centrally located in the Sollefteå urban area. Approximately 500 students attend the school, divided into two principal areas; grades 4-9 and adapted primary school. For the next school year, there will be 22 classes in the primary school. The school management consists of one principal and two vice principals, who also teach in their roles. There are about 37 teaching positions, including special teachers and teachers in a special education group (Studio) and the preparatory program for newly arrived students (Language Studio). Additionally, there are some student hosts and resource persons. In administration, student health, library, IT, and maintenance, several other people are active. Three of the teachers are lead teachers. The lead teachers have an overarching role at the municipal level. In addition, on behalf of the principal, they also lead the development work at the school. The competence of the staff is highly valued by the school management, and there are good opportunities for development within the organization.
The operations are organized into grade teams. Close collaboration within the teams among teachers and towards students facilitates the promoting and preventive student health work, co-assessment, interdisciplinary work, and other schedule-breaking activities. As a teacher, you are also part of subject teams with others who teach the same subject. In the subject team, students' work is co-assessed, joint planning is created, and student results and evaluations are analyzed together. The school also has a program for newly arrived students integrated with a special teaching environment.
Sollefteå Municipality has come a long way in terms of digitalization. All students have access to a Chromebook, and we extensively use Google's educational services in teaching. We also have access to digital teaching materials in most subjects, all classrooms are equipped with projectors, and all teachers have their own Chromebook. Using technology as a tool to promote learning and goal fulfillment is a given for the school.
At the unit, there is a well-developed student health service with special teachers, teachers from the Studio, two counselors, two school nurses, a study and career counselor, and access to a school psychologist on a consultative basis. The school has well-developed strategies in the promoting and preventive student health work, in which student health is included in the teams' EHM (Student Health Meetings). The structure of the combined competence contributes to strengthening students in their academic and social development. There is always an IT technician on site, and the school library is well-equipped with staffing every day of the week.
We are now looking for someone who wants to work at a school that leads rather than follows development, who wants to be involved in collegial learning, and who wants to contribute their expertise to the school's continued development.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Based on your profession, you will be part of the school's strategic student health team and contribute through a consultative approach to collegial learning. Together with school management, student health, and work teams, you will participate in the school's student health meetings, EHM, to contribute to processes that create good learning environments for the school's students.
On behalf of the principal, you will establish and implement assessments and action programs for students who need specific support and stimulation to meet the school's goals.
Your role also includes teaching in the school's special teaching environment, the Studio.
QUALIFICATIONS
Educated special teacher according to the Education Act. The position will be filled subject to the necessary decisions being made.
OTHER
In Sollefteå Municipality, a number of positions are placed in security class according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585). For those positions, a security review is part of the employment process.
