Parish Deacon at the Church of Sweden Växjö

The Church of Sweden Växjö has approximately 53,000 members in 11 parishes within the city and countryside. Together, we are about 230 employees, a hundred or so elected representatives, and a large number of volunteers working towards our vision - A living church. Close to life. Every day.

We are now looking for someone who wants to work as a parish deacon and help build the parish with us in Sjösås/Dädesjö. In our parishes, there are 5 beautiful churches, and we regularly celebrate services and have a rich parish life with activities for all ages.

We offer an exciting and varied position in our rural parishes, where you as a deacon will have a central role in parish and service life. Since the position is relatively new, you have great opportunities to influence and develop the diaconal work based on the needs in the area.

We would like you to have a family-oriented profile and become a natural part of our children and family activities. You will be part of a positive and engaged team with colleagues and volunteers, and you will also collaborate with deacons throughout the Växjö parish and be open to working across boundaries.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who:

• Is an ordained deacon within the Church of Sweden and has experience in diaconal work.
• Is a down-to-earth, secure, and unpretentious person who finds it easy to make contacts.
• Is creative and has ideas for developing diaconal work.
• Has drive and can work independently, but also creates engagement and participation in collaboration with others.
• Has good cooperation skills and a warm demeanor. Enjoys working both in a team and independently.

We place great importance on personal suitability. Of course, you are a member of the Church of Sweden and have a strong connection to the church's faith and life.

A driving license (B) and access to a car are required for the position.
