JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a probation officer in the probation service, you can contribute to a safer society. The tasks include ensuring safe entry at the probation office, staffing the reception, monitoring executions with electronic control through home visits and workplace visits, planning and supervising community service, as well as other security-related tasks.

You will work in a team with probation officers and have close collaboration with probation inspectors and administrators at the probation office.

QUALIFICATIONS

The role places high demands on personal suitability. As a probation officer, you need to be secure, stable, have good judgment, and integrity. Together with your colleagues, you will drive the operations, so you need to have good teamwork skills and be clear in your communication. You are attentive and accommodating in your interactions and have the interest, willingness, and ability to help others, striving to deliver solutions.

It is important that you share the fundamental values of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service regarding a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and the belief that people can develop. You should also be aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to ensuring that everyone is treated equally. We will place great emphasis on personal suitability.

For certain tasks, laws and regulations require that these be performed by a person of the same gender as the client, so we must maintain a balanced gender distribution in the group.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Completed upper secondary education or other training and relevant work experience
• Relevant work experience in one or more of the areas of probation, security work, psychiatry, or care and support work
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing
• Good computer skills
• Driver's license (B)

It is advantageous if you have:

• Work experience from the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
• Approved probation officer training
• Experience in security control/access
• Relevant language skills
• Experience in administration
• Experience in intensive supervision

OTHER

Certain positions are classified in security classes, and a security assessment with a background check will be conducted before a hiring decision is made. For positions with a higher security class, you must be a Swedish citizen, but you may have a foreign background.
