Are you an experienced engineer with a passionate interest in systems safety and the aerospace industry? Then you could be the perfect addition to our team at Engine Systems & Accessories. We focus on supporting and developing jet engines, including the JAS 39 Gripen engines RM12 and RM16, as well as next-generation engine concepts. We welcome your application!

About the company

GKN Aerospace Sweden is part of GKN Aerospace, which manufactures engine components, aircraft structures, cabin windows, wiring, and much more for many of the world's aircraft. The companies in the Aerospace division that work with parts for aircraft engines together form Engines, and at our facility in Trollhättan, we develop and manufacture advanced parts for engines for aircraft and space rockets. We also work with engine maintenance.

The Engine Systems & Accessories department focuses on product-supporting activities such as troubleshooting, problem-solving, and investigations related to the use of jet engines, primarily focusing on complete engines, their subsystems (electrical systems, oil systems, air systems, fuel systems, etc.), inter-module issues, systems safety, and aircraft and engine interfaces. In addition to product support, we also work on the development and upgrades of jet engines. A large part of our operations is focused on the JAS 39 Gripen engines RM12 and RM16, but stationary gas turbines and working with next-generation engine concepts are also part of the department's activities.

Your responsibilities

In this role, you will work with systems safety for RM12, the jet engine in the JAS 39 Gripen, where you, together with experienced systems safety engineers, ensure and assess the flight safety of the entire product and its system function.

Your work will include:

  • Analysis of systems safety using FMECA, fault trees, and software such as Reliability Workbench.
  • Familiarizing yourself with the RM12 engine, current processes, and documentation within the systems safety operations.
  • Contributing to improvements in methods and tools for the maintenance of RM12 and the development of new products.
  • Working based on customer requirements and standards such as MIL-STD-882E and the Swedish Armed Forces handbook on systems safety H SYSTSÄK, where standards, formal processes, and thorough documentation are central parts.
  • Participating in troubleshooting, problem-solving, and investigation related to engines in operation or during maintenance and testing at GKN.
  • Collaboration with customers, end-users, and other partners.

Your profile

We are looking for someone with a bachelor's or master's degree in engineering physics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a similar field. You have experience in systems safety and a strong interest in flight safety and airworthiness.

As a person, you are an engaged team player with the ability to influence and drive improvements. Additionally, you are proficient in Swedish and English, both spoken and written. Experience in systematic safety work within the aerospace industry and previous work with complete engine systems and system integration is an advantage.

The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the applicable security protection regulations. For positions where GKN's customer has requirements for security classification, this may involve requirements for certain citizenship.

Application procedure

In this recruitment, GKN Aerospace collaborates with Skill. The position is a consulting assignment where you will initially be employed by Skill with opportunities for transition to GKN.

Selection is ongoing, and the position may be filled before the application deadline. Therefore, apply today!
