Architecture with a focus on sustainable urban development

Subject Description

The subject encompasses knowledge regarding the construction and design of the physical environment, particularly buildings, landscapes, and cities, and the interplay between them, as well as knowledge about the area's historical and contemporary significance for societal development in various geographical and cultural contexts.

The subject includes a deepening in sustainable urban development concerning the concepts and theories of the knowledge area, as well as analysis and design of urban development projects at both an overview and more detailed level.

Job Responsibilities

The position primarily involves work as a teacher in the courses offered in architectural projects within undergraduate or advanced level education in architecture or within the master's program in Sustainable Urban Planning and Design. The job responsibilities include planning and developing courses, teaching, course administration, pedagogical development, and collaboration within KTH and with the surrounding community. The position is part-time, 40%. Teaching at the undergraduate level is conducted in Swedish.

Qualifications

To be eligible for employment as a lecturer in artistic activities, the applicant must have

• completed a degree at the undergraduate or advanced level within the subject of the position or have equivalent competence,
• artistic professional skills that are significant with regard to the subject content of the position and the job responsibilities included in the position, and
• demonstrated pedagogical skills.

Assessment Criteria

The assessment criteria for employment as a lecturer at KTH are those specified in section 1.6 of KTH's employment regulations in relation to the established employment profile.

It is of utmost importance that the applicant has

• artistic understanding of the architecture field as a whole with a deepening in sustainable urban development,
• artistic skills relevant to the content of the position demonstrated through architectural design projects on an urban scale.
• documented professional skills relevant to the content of the position.
• good ability to communicate about architectural design and urban planning issues in professional and pedagogical contexts.
• participated in contexts significant for the development of the subject and profession, such as exhibitions, publications, competitions, and symposia, for example with architectural design projects or artistic research and development projects.

It is of secondary importance that the applicant has

• documented pedagogical skills within the subject area and experience of teaching within architecture education and architectural project courses specifically. The assessment of pedagogical skills should also consider the person's ability to develop as a teacher in the long term.
• digital competence relevant to the subject area.
• work experience outside of higher education.
• collaborative skills, including knowledge of diversity and equal treatment issues with a particular focus on gender equality.

It is also important that the applicant has

• higher education pedagogical training.
• the ability to collaborate with the surrounding community.
• the ability to develop and lead activities and personnel.
• administrative skills.

This is an employment based on artistic grounds according to the Higher Education Ordinance for 3 years with the possibility of extension for up to 10 years.
