Your role and responsibilities

ABB Energy Industries is a systems area within the Process Automation business unit. Energy Industries operates in the field of plant automation and electrical power for power-generating plants such as thermal, hydro, and nuclear power, pharmaceutical and chemical plants, as well as combined heat and power plants. We cover everything from instrumentation, control and regulation technology, automation, electrical power systems including generator connections to information systems and process optimization based on ABB's products.

The position is preferably located in Västerås, but other locations can be evaluated based on the competency profile. We also have offices in Kista, Malmö, Mölndal, and Umeå.

Your responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for the technical coordination and review of the design work for your projects and will closely collaborate with other engineers and project managers in the project team.
  • You will support project managers and sometimes proposal engineers with your deep technical knowledge in electrical power and plant design within areas such as thermal power, hydro power, and nuclear power, ensuring technical delivery.
  • You will closely collaborate with our customers and travel within Sweden for technical meetings with clients as well as site visits.
  • You will work on the design of electrical systems where projects vary in size and can include feasibility studies, system and detailed design of e.g., substations (medium and low voltage), relay protection, UPS, drive systems, and control cabinets, documentation and testing, as well as commissioning of components and systems.
  • You will ensure that the right technical solution is developed in accordance with specifications, standards, and safety requirements, which may also include participation in FAT/testing at the factory before delivery.
  • You share ABB's fundamental values regarding safety and integrity, which means you take responsibility for your own actions while also feeling responsible for your colleagues and the business.

Qualifications for the role

  • We are looking for someone with an engineering degree and/or at least 7 years of work experience in electrical and/or plant design or industrial electrical power technology/electrical installations.
  • You have a genuine technical interest and experience in electrical power and/or plant design. Experience from commissioning assignments is also an advantage.
  • It is a merit if you have worked with power-generating plants and have an understanding of customer processes.
  • As a person, you are meticulous and good at prioritizing and planning your day, as well as being customer-oriented and having a good sense of quality at all levels.
  • You have good collaboration skills and are accustomed to working in teams, are goal-oriented and communicative. It is a merit if you have good leadership qualities or previous experience in leading teams, but it is not a requirement.
  • You speak and write Swedish and English fluently.
  • You have a B driver's license as travel is required for the position.
