The pulmonary care department provides highly specialized care for individuals requiring inpatient treatment for pulmonary diseases.

Patients treated here include those with lung cancer, pleural diseases, lung transplant recipients, lung infections, and chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases in both acute and elective phases. The unit is part of the Southeast Healthcare Region's competence center for cancer treatment and pulmonary medicine.

Our Offer

The Cancer and Pulmonary Care Unit (CoL) is a clinic focused on inpatient care! The clinic is led by a manager with extensive competence in both nursing and leadership. The two unit managers are specialist nurses in medical care, alternating leadership with clinical work. Together, we promote active learning in everyday life!

There are excellent opportunities for professional development and deepening knowledge in areas such as pulmonary care, emergency care, medical care, and/or cancer care. We actively work with continuing education during working hours to increase your knowledge and competence through both internal and external training. You will be offered scheduled administrative time for personal development.

We provide individual scheduling based on the Tessa tool. Your recovery and health are important to us. We have daily time set aside for team reflection to summarize the experiences of the day and reduce the risk of taking work home. The main focus of the reflection template is on communication, nursing, ethics, and work environment, aimed at promoting psychological safety in the unit.

Job Description

As a nurse, you will be part of a team with several professions, including nursing assistants, specialist nurses, physiotherapists, dietitians, social workers, doctors, and occupational therapists. You will be responsible for specific nursing care and leading daily nursing activities. We work based on the core competencies of nursing. Good teamwork and active learning are important to us. All employees have specific areas of responsibility. The unit has management nurses who provide support and guidance in daily work for both new and experienced colleagues. Pulmonary medicine has fifteen beds, divided into three care teams.

Pulmonary medicine conducts both elective and emergency operations and cares for patients in diagnostic, treatment, and palliative phases. Your work will thus involve many different practical tasks such as administering chemotherapy, respiratory treatment, NIV treatment, CPAP treatment, high-flow oxygen therapy, managing various thoracic drains, and central venous access. Nurses receive delegation for blood sampling through arterial puncture and analysis.

About You

You are a licensed nurse or a licensed specialist nurse in medical care. At CoL, there are opportunities to develop as a new, experienced, and specialist nurse.

As you work in constant dialogue with inpatients, relatives, colleagues, and other services, it is a requirement that you have good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form.

You easily adapt to changing circumstances, can quickly change your perspective and approach, and see the possibilities in changes. You enjoy being part of a multidisciplinary team with a person-centered focus, where all professions learn from each other. You have a good empathetic ability to understand someone else's perspective or situation without taking over their feelings.
