Botkyrka Municipality is the sixth largest municipality in Stockholm County and consists of the districts Alby, Fittja, Hallunda, Norsborg, Tullinge, Tumba, Vårsta, and Grödinge. Botkyrka Municipality has approximately 95,000 inhabitants and over 6,400 employees.

The Culture and Leisure Administration makes Botkyrka healthier, stronger, and more creative! We ensure that there is a rich cultural and sports life with many different leisure activities to choose from in the municipality. We contribute to vibrant and safe living environments and enable Botkyrka residents to develop their interests. With meaningful leisure time, people feel better, which strengthens public health. With over 200 employees, we are responsible for libraries, swimming pools, cultural schools, art halls, open leisure activities, sports facilities, and public health parks.

The operational area is one of three operational areas in the Culture and Leisure Administration. The operation is responsible for issues concerning open leisure activities for grades 4 - 9. The open leisure activities are free, open meeting places aimed at creating meaningful leisure for children and young people. In Botkyrka, there are eleven leisure clubs for children in grades 4 - 6 and eight youth centers for young people in grades 7 - 9. Four of the leisure clubs are run by the municipality, and the others are run by four different providers from Botkyrka's civil society.

The Position and Responsibilities

We are looking for someone with a passionate interest in youth issues who sees opportunities to create good activities together with children and young people.

You should see it as a given that many different interests should participate in the work to stimulate diversity in both thoughts and ideas.

We run a leisure club in the afternoons for 10–12-year-olds, an operation that falls under the Education Act. In the evenings and on weekends, we also run youth center activities aimed at 12-16-year-olds. The mission includes providing children and young people with opportunities for challenges that lead to increased self-esteem and creating activities together that contribute to improved well-being. Together with other colleagues, you work to ensure that the operation contributes to the good health of children and young people, positive growth conditions, and future confidence. The operations contribute to this by welcoming everyone, utilizing visitors' own experiences and interests, and promoting and stimulating their engagement and personal development. At the meeting places, there are requirements for visitor participation, and as a visitor, you are a co-creator and producer of the operation and the activities that fill it. The operation is open six evenings a week with leisure club activities during the day. Your working hours are scheduled for the evenings. Weekend work may occur.

You Who Are Applying to Us

Requirements: We are looking for someone who is an educated leisure leader or has another education that we assess as equivalent. To be considered for the position, you also need to have at least two years of previous experience working with young people.

You are a senior outgoing person with extensive experience working with youth as a leader. Furthermore, you should have the ability to plan and execute the work constructively and initiate new and creative ideas. The work requires that you can express yourself well and clearly. You should have strong integrity as the job of a leisure leader places very high demands on being secure in your values and ethical positions – and being able to convey that to the youth. It is also important that you have the ability to sense and listen to the surroundings to make the right decisions in consultation with colleagues.

To thrive in the role of leisure leader, it is a prerequisite that you enjoy working in a team where established common rules are maintained in everyday work with youth. At the same time, it is important that you can independently plan and lead activities. You see children and young people as a resource and have a coaching approach to inspire and contribute to them realizing their ideas. You should want to be involved in developing issues for an equal and inclusive operation. Furthermore, you should have experience working within financial frameworks.

We welcome in-depth competence in pedagogy, human rights, equality issues, theater, music, and similar fields. The work also requires good knowledge of Swedish in both speech and writing. A solid general knowledge of the various functions of society is also important. We would like you to keep up with youth issues and various trends locally and nationally. Experience from voluntary work and/or other sectors is meritorious.
