Female Personal Assistant for 10-Year-Old Boy - Make a Difference Every Workday!

Our boy is a ray of sunshine who loves to smile! He uses a wheelchair (which you will maneuver), has epilepsy, and is fed via PEG. He cannot speak verbally and has an intellectual disability, so his mental age is much younger than his physical age. Your willingness to communicate on his terms is important as a good interaction is a big part of the job.

Do you have experience with PEG, respiratory issues, intellectual disabilities, and epilepsy? That’s a big plus! He has a progressive illness, and changes in care and needs occur from time to time, so you need to be knowledgeable about his routines, which are adjusted monthly.

He lives centrally in Stockholm with his father and in Bromma with his mother, and spends part of the summer weeks at beautiful Ingarö where his father has a summer house. Sometimes he has the opportunity to be at Lilla Ersta and is entitled to bring his personal assistants there as well.

Your Superpowers on Site:

As a personal assistant, you will be our hero on site and provide support in all kinds of situations. Your tasks include:

• Diaper changes, bathing, and support during meals (PEG feeding).
• Walks, play, stretching, and physiotherapy.
• Quick assistance during breathing difficulties and epileptic seizures.
• Participating in outings, family activities, and park visits.
• Picking the boy up from school and accompanying him home via transport services.
• Monitoring him during the nights mainly due to epilepsy, reflux, and breathing.

Working Hours:

We are now looking for someone who wants to work as a substitute for 2-3 shifts per week (mainly awake nights but also day shifts from July) both in Bromma, in the city, and at Ingarö during the summer. In May and June, there will be an average of 2-3 nights per week. (Some get tired at night, so you should be able to sleep well during the day to manage being awake) In July and parts of August, there will be varying times such as day/evening and night. Perfect for you who combine with another job or studies (e.g., to become a nursing assistant, nurse, or preschool teacher). After summer, you may be offered a position as a casual employee even in the fall, or a smaller part-time position.

Shift Schedule:

• Awake night weekdays: approx. 21:00-10:00
• Awake night weekends: approx. 21:00-09:00
• Weekday afternoons 14:55-21:00
• Public holidays (and summer break days) approx. 9-21

• Child-loving, present, attentive, and caring.
• Not afraid of medical care. The boy has a progressive illness, and his health condition can change rapidly. You need to be very alert and stress-resistant.
• Present, reliable, and meticulous.
• Responsible, understanding, and punctual.
• Positive and have a good mood when you are at work.
• You arrive on time, follow routines, and take initiative when needed.
• You are good at understanding written instructions and meeting deadlines. You prefer to ask once too many rather than once too few to provide the right care.

Introduction:

The introduction will take place immediately in collaboration with the boy's parents. You need to build a relationship with the boy and learn his care needs and routines by going through a few introductory shifts during the day before you can start working nights.
