We are looking for a BAS-P leader for an assignment in Stockholm.

This is a consulting assignment.

The position is full-time.

The assignment involves close collaboration with the client, which places high demands on flexibility and teamwork.

The Assignment

The client’s BECCS project is based on a global need for negative emissions, a need emphasized in the IPCC's 2018 report on the 1.5C climate goal. The report reinforces the importance of carbon sinks and states that even with drastic emission reductions, countries must pursue solutions for carbon capture to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement. Bio-Energy Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) offers a promising way forward, especially for Sweden, where the political and social commitment to climate neutrality is strong. With support from EU funding and an established Swedish climate policy since 2017, BECCS represents both a local and global response to these challenges, aiming to create sustainable operations at scale. The changing Nordic energy landscape also underscores the need for BECCS. The client’s district heating operations must now compete with low-emission alternatives such as heat pumps. They are now seeking a BAS-P leader with the following areas of responsibility:

· Develop and coordinate safety measures during the planning and design phase of the construction project by involving necessary expertise as needed, e.g., expertise in scaffolding, chemistry, and geotechnics.

· Prepare and maintain the work environment plan and ensure it is tailored to the needs of the BECCS project.

· Ensure that technical and design solutions, construction methods, and materials used support a safe working environment.

· Work closely with the HSE manager, Work Package Owners, contractors, engineers, and other functions to ensure overall project safety during the design phase.

· Ensure compliance with Swedish safety regulations, legislation (e.g., the Work Environment Act), and internal rules related to workplace safety and health.

· Identify foreseeable risks in the project and include these in the work environment plan.

· Monitor and report on safety performance metrics and provide regular updates to the COO and HSE manager.

· Have the authority to reject deviations from the safety plan and escalate issues to the client's representative and the CAPEX steering group.

· Coordinate with environmental and safety specialists to ensure that work environment and safety requirements are integrated into the project's design and planning phase.

· Coordinate with work package/project managers and other functions (e.g., construction management) to ensure that the plan is comprehensive.

· Collaborate with BAS-U to ensure a smooth transition from planning to implementation.

· Ensure that procurement and contractor agreements include appropriate safety and work environment requirements.

Requirements (NOTE, mandatory)

Extensive experience (10+ years) in construction safety management, with a strong background in the BAS-P role, managing safety during the planning and design phases of construction projects. Strong leadership and team management skills; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to identify and address safety risks; strong organizational skills and problem-solving abilities. In-depth understanding of Swedish safety regulations and standards, construction safety methods, and practices. Documented ability to manage safety activities and ensure compliance with safety standards; strong analytical skills and decision-making competence; ability to work effectively under pressure. Higher vocational education or a bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field, with specialized training or certification in construction work environment coordination (BAS-P) and safety planning. Proven and extensive experience as BAS-P in large-scale projects is equally or more valuable. Good knowledge of Swedish and English is required.
