We are looking for an experienced BAS-U leader for an assignment in Stockholm.

This is a consulting assignment.

The position is full-time.

The assignment involves close collaboration with the client, which places high demands on flexibility and teamwork.

The Assignment and Responsibilities

The client’s BECCS project is based on a global need for negative emissions, a need emphasized in the IPCC's 2018 report on the 1.5C climate goal. The report reinforces the importance of carbon sinks and states that even with drastic emission reductions, countries must pursue carbon capture solutions to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement. Bio-Energy Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) offers a promising way forward, especially for Sweden, where the political and social commitment to climate neutrality is strong. With support from EU funding and an established Swedish climate policy since 2017, BECCS represents both a local and global response to these challenges, aiming to create sustainable operations on a large scale.

The changing Nordic energy landscape also underscores the need for BECCS. The client's district heating operations must now compete with low-emission alternatives such as heat pumps. To maintain its market-leading position, the client is using BECCS to make district heating a model for sustainability that meets customer and societal expectations for renewability and climate performance.

They are now seeking an experienced BAS-U leader with the following responsibilities: • Monitor and coordinate safety measures during the implementation phase of the construction project, including managing and coordinating contractors and subcontractors. • Ensure that contractors' procedures comply with Swedish safety regulations, legislation (e.g., the Work Environment Act), and internal rules applicable to workplace safety and health. • Conduct regular safety reviews to identify and address potential hazards at the construction site. • Work closely with the HSE manager, Work Package Owners, project managers, construction management, and other functions to ensure overall project and work safety. • Coordinate safety training for all workers on site. • Investigate and report safety incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences. • Monitor and report on safety performance metrics, providing regular updates to the management and HSE manager. • Ensure that accident investigations are conducted, documented, and reported according to BAS-U procedures. • Collaborate with BAS-P to ensure a smooth transition from planning to implementation. • Lead a team of site safety officers (including electrical safety, fire safety, and permit safety) to implement the safety plan on site.

Requirements (Note: Mandatory)

Extensive experience (10+ years) in construction safety management, with a strong background in the BAS-U role, managing safety on active construction sites. Strong leadership and team management skills; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to identify and address safety risks; strong organizational skills and problem-solving abilities. In-depth understanding of Swedish safety regulations and standards, construction safety methods, and practices. Documented ability to manage safety activities and ensure compliance with safety standards; strong analytical skills and decision-making competence; ability to work effectively under pressure. Higher vocational training or a bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, with specialized training or certification in construction site safety coordination (BAS-U) and safety planning. Proven and extensive experience as BAS-U in large-scale projects is equally or more valuable. Good knowledge of Swedish and English is required.

Preferred

Previous experience in the energy sector. In-depth understanding of international standards and regulations. Additional languages beyond Swedish and English.
