Workplace Description

S:t Eriks Gymnasium and Polhem's Adapted High School are two municipal schools sharing a building in the heart of Kungsholmen in central Stockholm.

Here, there is an exciting mix of both higher education preparatory programs and vocational programs where creativity and knowledge are at the center. The school has a diversity of education, activities, nationalities, and languages, making it a fun and stimulating workplace for both students and staff.

We train for professions in automation, electrical engineering and communication, carpentry, florist-flower design, hairdressing, and textile design-tailoring. We prepare for university through aesthetic programs in visual arts and design, animation, film and directing, instruments or singing, music production and theater, natural science programs, and social science programs in media, information, and communication as well as social sciences. We also offer adult education and the National Gymnasium for the Disabled (RGRH).

The school library is a pedagogical resource for teaching and schoolwork. Collaboration between teachers and the school librarian contributes to better learning conditions for students.

Job Description

As a school librarian, your task is to continue building our library into a well-integrated part of the operation that supports learning and students' goal fulfillment.

Currently, there are two librarians, and we are now looking for a substitute for one of the positions for the next school year 2025/2026.

You need to be a secure and stable person who dares to set demands and ensure the work in the library. You are a natural part of the school's pedagogical work and our focus on sustainable development and sustainable learning. The school library should be used by students and teachers as a resource in teaching and contribute to reading and writing development. Therefore, you will collaborate with teachers regarding planning for potential author visits, class visits, guidance, and teaching in information retrieval and source criticism (MIK) in regular teaching.

You will also be expected to initiate projects related to the school library's activities and actively follow developments in the field through continuous monitoring of the environment.

You will be responsible for continuing to build routines around the management of the school's teaching materials regarding ordering, lending, and returns, which will be handled by the library.

Ongoing review and inventory of the library need to be done to ensure that the literature supports the school's program offerings and is adapted to the students at the school.

Qualifications

You have a university degree in library and information science or an education that the employer finds equivalent. You have experience in pedagogical work and experience working in school libraries, preferably at the high school level. You have knowledge of the library's data systems and good ICT skills. You have a strong interest in developing the operation with all that it entails of flexibility, endurance, and creativity. You are flexible, structured, outgoing, and self-driven. You have initiative and a clear commitment to working with youth and are factual and pedagogical. You have the ability to express yourself well in speech and writing, as well as good collaboration and organizational skills.

If you have knowledge and experience in the following areas, it is meritorious: pedagogical education, experience in a leadership role, knowledge of youth literature and contemporary media, and knowledge of reading processes and methods for how literature can be used in teaching.
