About the Position

There is now an opportunity to become part of our creative and positive workgroup. We are looking for a curious and proactive librarian who wants to work with activities aimed at children aged nine to twelve years.

The libraries in Norrtälje promote reading and democracy from a children's rights perspective, among other things by offering a wide range of literature and media. We also have a varied program of activities for all ages. The municipality's library plan outlines the libraries' mission for the coming years; we aim to attract new users, develop accessibility, and offer participation and security in our premises.

Job Description

You will be part of a team of children's librarians, working together to ensure that the libraries are a welcoming place where everyone is met in a professional manner. Your primary responsibility will be activities for children aged nine to twelve years. The reading promotion mission is of great importance; you will have the opportunity to organize holiday activities, book clubs, crafts, etc. You will be responsible for contact with leisure activities, associations, other external actors, and invitations. You will also be responsible for purchasing, maintaining the collection, and media management for the age group. Together with other colleagues, you will also be responsible for the library's marketing, such as posters, social media, the website, and mailings.

Work at the library's information desk, as well as weekend and evening shifts, are included.

The position is currently based at the main library in Norrtälje, but you may also be assigned to work at other units.

Qualifications

Educational requirement: Bachelor's degree in library and information science or other education deemed equivalent by the employer.

A valid driver's license (B) is an asset.

A background check is required.

It is an advantage if you have knowledge about children's and young people's reading interests and reading promotion methods. You feel comfortable speaking in front of large groups and enjoy participating in activities conducted in collaboration with actors outside the library. About the Workplace

The libraries in Norrtälje consist of eight library units, a library bus, and a book boat that we operate together with the municipalities of Haninge, Värmdö, and Österåker. The libraries consist of about thirty employees and are part of the Culture and Leisure Administration. Together, we work to promote cultural and leisure activities in Norrtälje.
