Are you interested in youth literature and culture? We are now looking for an engaged youth librarian for Österåker Library! We offer a stimulating job where you will be part of an ambitious and professional workgroup. At Österåker Library, we focus on the visitor and work for an inclusive operation where everyone should feel welcome; the operation is HBTQI-certified. The library is part of the Culture Unit, which in turn belongs to the Culture and Leisure Administration. We are 12 people working in the library organization, and your workplace will be in Åkersberga center, which is located right by the Roslagsbanan and the bus station. Our two branch libraries are located on Ljusterö and Ingmarsö, and we are part of the collaboration with Bokbåten, which goes out into the archipelago twice a year. We offer a wellness allowance of 2000 SEK/year, wellness hour, vacation exchange, and we have reading time for all staff. The library is part of the Culture and Leisure Administration and is included in the Culture and Library Unit.

Your new job

We are looking for someone who finds it important and meaningful to work with youth and who is an engaged and curious person. Children and young people are priority target groups, and the library actively works to create a safe and reading-promoting environment, which we want you to contribute to as well. You will work with children aged 13 and up (young adults), with various types of reading-promoting activities that should inspire a love of reading. You will also plan and carry out class visits, other activities aimed at youth, be responsible for PRAO students, and network with others in the municipality who work with youth. The youth librarian is part of the children and youth team that collaborates closely and plans activities and class visits together. You will handle media selection and purchases for the target group and work with other commonly occurring library tasks. The position includes shifts at the information desk, evening and weekend work, and work at our branches may also occur.

Your profile

You have an academic degree in library and information science and experience working in public libraries with children and youth, as well as good knowledge of children's and youth literature and culture. We are looking for someone who collaborates easily, has good IT skills, and a strong service mindset. You contribute to creating a good working environment, adapt to changing circumstances, and can quickly change your perspective and see the opportunities in changes. Furthermore, you take initiative, start activities, and achieve results. Österåker Municipality is a Finnish administrative area, so please let us know if you are Finnish-speaking.
