The Municipal Executive Office focuses on leadership, coordination, and follow-up to ensure that the municipal group works effectively with the residents' best interests in mind. The department leads and coordinates community building and works for sustainable growth in Halmstad municipality. Together, we are also responsible for governance and development of common municipal issues such as HR, communication, administration, and finance. The Overview Planning Unit handles strategic physical planning within various specialist areas. Here, planners, planning strategists, city architects, property strategists, municipal ecologists, water strategists, climate adaptation strategists, and traffic strategists work.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Do you want to work with long-term and sustainable community development? We are now looking for a municipal ecologist for the Overview Planning Unit in the Community Development Department!

In this position, you will have the opportunity to contribute your expertise in ecology, species knowledge, and work with strategic nature conservation efforts, cross-departmental coordination, nature value inventories, and be involved in community planning. You will work alongside planners, climate adaptation strategists, traffic strategists, water strategists, and other municipal ecologists. A large part of the job involves contributing your specialist knowledge in overview planning and detailed planning.

The tasks beyond planning work are varied; you will participate in and drive networks and collaboration projects, such as LONA projects and ecological networks in Halland, project lead and coordinate activities both internally and externally, respond to inquiries from the public within your area, and continuously participate in the development of processes to improve operations.

The position has a significant element of collaboration and dialogue, both internally within Halmstad municipality and with neighboring municipalities, the County Administrative Board, Region Halland, consulting firms, and the public.

QUALIFICATIONS

As a municipal ecologist, you need to have analytical and problem-solving skills and be able to balance different interests and overarching strategies. We are looking for someone who understands how people function and can collaborate and cooperate with various stakeholders to achieve common goals. We believe you are a person who sees opportunities instead of obstacles and has the ability to adapt quickly to new circumstances and act proactively. Your expertise is invaluable, and you are happy to share your knowledge to promote collaboration and achieve the best possible results.

We are looking for someone with a university degree in biology, ecology, or equivalent experience. To succeed in your work, we see that you have at least one year of experience in biology, ecology, or community planning. It is advantageous if you have knowledge of flora, biodiversity, and experience in project management, experience in applying for funding for new projects, as well as experience working in the public sector. Desirable but not required is also experience in nature value inventories and familiarity with the provisions of the Environmental Code and PBL. This position requires a B driver's license.
