The County Administrative Board is the government's representative in the county and coordinates regional development efforts. We work with issues related to environmental and nature conservation, rural areas, urban planning, animal welfare, preparedness, gender equality, integration, and cultural heritage. We actively work for the development of the county and coordinate various sectors of society. In our work, we uphold legal certainty, transparency, equal treatment, and good service. The County Administrative Board of Halland County has its office in central Halmstad and we currently have about 230 employees. For more information, visit our website, www.lansstyrelsen.se/halland (http://www.lansstyrelsen.se/halland).
The Nature Conservation Unit currently consists of 50 employees working in various areas.
The unit's mission is to achieve environmental quality objectives and contribute to sustainable development in the county. The unit is tasked with protecting nature, managing the county's nature reserves and Natura 2000 areas, safeguarding water quality, managing large predators, and taking action for threatened species. The unit also supports other units within the County Administrative Board with nature conservation expertise.
Job Responsibilities
You will be part of the preparation secretariat, which is part of the Nature Conservation Unit's water function. The focus is on water management work according to the EU Water Framework Directive, where the goal is to achieve good ecological and chemical status in our lakes and watercourses, as well as good quantitative and chemical status in groundwater. The water function encompasses, in addition to water management; environmental monitoring, liming, wetland coordination, LONA wetlands, LOVA, actions for threatened species in water, and support in the work with the national review plan for hydropower.
The role of regional action coordinator is new and involves being supportive and unifying for local action coordination in the county with the overarching aim of creating more actions. Coordination of local actions can be driven by municipalities, water councils, non-profit organizations, or other water actors. Local action coordination supports landowners, operators, or other local actors who wish to implement voluntary physical measures.
As a regional action coordinator, you will be the spider in the web, creating engagement for actions in prioritized areas, informing and supporting local action coordination, providing guidance and concrete support for local action processes, and facilitating experience exchange. There may also be a need for administration and processing of grants for local action work and other funding.
You will also participate in the national development of watershed-specific action plans led by the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management and coordinate internal work with the Water Authorities' action programs. You will be the County Administrative Board's contact person for the county's water councils.
In addition to regional action coordination, you will be responsible for and develop the County Administrative Board's overall action plan for water (SÅV). The action plan serves as a basis for prioritizing actions in water in the county and is therefore an important tool in action coordination.
If necessary, other tasks within the employer's areas of activity may also become relevant.
The position may require evening and weekend work.
