About us
Library Development Sörmland works together with public libraries, literary practitioners, and other stakeholders in Sörmland to encourage more people to want to and be able to read, write, create, tell stories, and participate in society based on their conditions. We contribute to facilitating lifelong learning for individuals. We aim to be a fair partner in strengthening the democratic society. We operate based on the shifts outlined in the Region Sörmland library plan and the priorities set in the regional cultural plan. Throughout the year, we focus on developing collaboration in a long-term and sustainable manner. Technological development and rapid changes in our environment significantly affect society and, consequently, libraries. We want to meet this proactively with curiosity and trust.
Since the assignment is large and the organization is small (currently staffed by four library developers, one literature developer, one communications strategist, and a manager), collaboration, clarity, and strong trusting relationships with various parties at local, regional, national, and international levels are required. The organization strives for a transparent culture of sharing where you are expected to share your expertise while also exploring and learning from others' knowledge and experiences.

Your tasks
We are looking for a temporary library developer to join our team who will lead and develop the work with media and information literacy (MIL) together with colleagues, as well as in collaboration with other stakeholders at local, regional, and national levels. You will analyze and tackle the MIL assignment from the perspectives of human rights, participation, and sustainable development. Additionally, you will contribute content and ideas on how the work with Digiteket (which is the national platform for competence development for public libraries) can be developed in Sörmland. You will also engage in an exploratory process with public libraries in Sörmland to strengthen collaboration and develop working methods based on the libraries' local conditions and the regional assignment. You will be the contact person for the library managers in the county. It may also be relevant to participate in various regional and national contexts within the library and cultural sectors.
Our working method is that we collectively take responsibility for all parts of the assignment, with a division of roles that varies over time. The position offers good opportunities for development and trying out different roles and areas. The tasks will be varied and range from leading development processes together with public libraries and other relevant stakeholders to working on social media and some administrative tasks. We focus on users' needs and handle the complex and challenging while learning together.
Your qualifications
- You have a relevant degree for the assignment, such as library and information science or pedagogy.
- You have experience in the library field.
- You are familiar with the situation of literary actors.
- You have experience with user-centered methodologies.
- You have experience working with one or more of the library's prioritized target groups.
- You have experience leading processes and/or projects with many involved parties.
- You have good digital competence.
- You express yourself well in writing and speaking in Swedish and English, and it is an advantage if you know additional languages.
Personal qualities
You have a critical perspective on norms and work well with others by being attentive and constructive. You often come up with ideas and/or suggestions for new approaches that you are eager to implement in practice to test and learn. You work well towards set goals and focus on results while having a good ability to see the big picture and can make wise priorities when necessary. If the goal changes, you can be adaptable and adjust your structure and plan while maintaining a good relationship with the timeline. You are curious, want to develop, and enjoy varying between strategic and operational efforts.
