Aspen at Thomasgymnasiet is an initiative designed to meet students in need of various forms of support and adaptations. At Aspen, students can take introductory programs or any of our national programs. The design of the support at Aspen varies depending on which program the student is enrolled in and the individual needs and conditions of the student.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a school librarian, your task is to continue building our library into a well-integrated part of the operations that supports learning and students' achievement. You are part of the school's educational work and our focus on sustainable development and sustainable learning.

Your responsibilities include, among other things:

• Collaborating and planning activities with teachers that lead to increased motivation, curiosity, and achievement for students.
• Workshops and guidance in media, information literacy, and source criticism for teachers.
• Purchasing literature, magazines, and databases.
• Responsible for the digital and physical school library where reading, research, critical thinking, and creativity are central to teaching and learning.
• Working towards a study environment that is calm, safe, and inclusive.
• Main responsibility for routines and management of the school's teaching materials regarding ordering, lending, and returns.

The position is located at Thomasgymnasiet, and the majority of the work is directed towards the high school, but it also includes supporting adult learners at the Adult Education Center in Strängnäs with lending teaching materials. A background check will be conducted in accordance with the Education Act prior to employment.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

• a university degree in library and information science or another education deemed equivalent by the employer.
• experience working in school libraries.
• good knowledge of literature.
• knowledge of the library's data system BOOK-IT.
• high digital competence.
• the ability to express yourself well in both spoken and written language.

We consider it an advantage to have knowledge of multiple languages and if your experience working in a library is from a high school.

We are primarily looking for someone who has initiative and a clear commitment to working with youth, as well as good pedagogical skills. You are responsible and have a good ability to work independently as well as in a team. Your good collaboration skills make you a valued colleague with a strong sense of service.
