Your upcoming role As a train attendant, you are SJ's face to the public and contribute to ensuring that our travelers have a safe, comfortable, and pleasant journey. You work in a team with the train driver and your fellow attendants to provide our customers with a safe and enjoyable experience on our trains. Train attendants may have varying tasks, but the focus is always on safety, service, and information.

What will a workday look like? We are looking for train attendants with bistro responsibility, where your main task will be working in our bistro. You will be responsible for sales and ensuring that our guests have a great journey by providing the best possible service. You may also be required to check valid tickets and assist with connections both in normal situations and during service disruptions. It is important that you have a technical interest and are accustomed to using digital tools, as much of your daily work will take place through technical systems on board the train.

The role includes:

• Providing world-class service to SJ's travelers and creating a wonderful travel experience on board the trains
• Being responsible for sales, display setup, and restocking items in the bistro
• Keeping the train clean and tidy
• Following safety regulations and rules applicable to the railway as well as SJ's internal guidelines

On night trains, the work is scheduled at night and may require you to be away for 2-4 days in a row. The position involves shift work and weekend work, as well as regular overnight stays in other locations. Shifts can extend over all hours of the day. Since the working hours fall outside public transport schedules, you need to be able to get to work without hindrance. Therefore, we prefer that you live within close proximity to the station you are applying to.

Expectations for the candidate This job is suitable for you who appreciate a workplace in constant change where no day is the same as another. We see that you are communicative, responsible, service-oriented, and technically interested. For the safety of our travelers, you need to express yourself fluently in Swedish and have good knowledge of English in both spoken and written form. As a train attendant, you need to be punctual and able to handle challenges with a professional demeanor.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

• You must be at least 20 years old at the time your employment starts. This is due to the fact that you will be handling alcohol in the bistro on board the trains.
• Have a completed high school education or work experience that the employer deems equivalent.
• You speak and write Swedish fluently and have good knowledge of English. It is an advantage if you master additional languages.
• An important part of the position is that you meet the EU health requirements for railway personnel, which is a prerequisite for you to work in this safety-critical role. About the position We offer a part-time position starting on May 15. The employment begins with a paid and mandatory basic training full-time in Luleå with some components in Stockholm for 6-7 weeks. After completing the training, the extent of the part-time position will be about 50% or more, and you will work varying hours with a focus on weekend work. There is an opportunity to continue the part-time position after the summer and a chance for a permanent position in the fall.
