Your new job

The operations are based on the values of elderly care: The social services' care for the elderly should focus on ensuring that older individuals can live a dignified life and feel well-being (SoL Chapter 5, Section 4).

As a care assistant, you play a significant role in providing individualized care and social stimulation - always with the individual in focus. Your tasks are based on approved needs assessments and include personal care, daily chores such as cleaning and laundry, social activities, medication management, and various responsibilities. The assessed services for residents are planned with support from staff in the operational system Kompanion, which acts as a tool in daily work planning and describes what staff should do during a work shift.

You actively work with case management, implementation plans, and social documentation in the operational system Combine. Together with your team, you promote health and focus on the strengths and opportunities of each individual. The goal is for each person to have a meaningful daily life and feel well-being. All care is tailored to the resident's needs, wishes, and circumstances. You administer medication on delegation from a nurse, implement certain rehabilitation measures on delegation from an occupational therapist/physiotherapist, and report ongoing operations verbally and in writing to the unit manager/nurse and colleagues.

The position also includes providing care and support at the end of life and palliative care.

Your qualifications

You are a trained care assistant with experience in healthcare and social services. To succeed in the role of care assistant with us, you have a genuine interest in driving and developing various quality-enhancing activities for our elderly citizens. You are positive, flexible, and good at independently planning and executing your work. You are stable and have the ability to handle a dynamic workday while maintaining calm even in unforeseen or urgent situations. You also possess good collaboration skills, good communication abilities, and prioritize the best interests of individuals and the organization in your actions and decision-making.

You have very good skills in speaking and writing Swedish and a high reading comprehension of written texts. You should be able to actively participate in training/information sessions at workplace meetings and absorb information. Furthermore, you are accustomed to making journal entries and have very good computer skills.

The work requires physical mobility as situations arise that cannot be predicted and must be resolved in a manner adapted to the situation.

The task of the Social Administration is to ensure that everyone residing in Jönköping Municipality, based on politically assigned tasks and in accordance with applicable legislation, has their basic needs for support, care, and security met. The Social Administration encompasses the functions of elderly care, disability care, individual and family care, and the authority unit.

Kålgården Elderly Home is an elderly home with home care services. The residence is centrally located in Jönköping, close to both Munksjöbron and Östra Kajen. While you are close to the city center and bus connections, you can also enjoy nature with beautiful walking paths around Munksjön and Rocksjön. The elderly home is divided into 3 units and consists of 49 apartments, of which four are two-room apartments. There is close collaboration with various professional roles, and Kålgården is a workplace with 37 dedicated employees, good community, and the opportunity to influence your work. Good to know

We are looking for care assistants for permanent positions, full-time, with immediate start or as agreed. Working hours are scheduled for daytime and evening shifts both weekdays and weekends, as well as every other weekend. We work with flexible working hours, and planning may involve work in another unit. Jönköping Municipality strives for full-time as the norm and always offers a 100% employment rate.

As of July 1, 2023, the title of care assistant will be a protected professional title. This means that a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare will be required to use the title of care assistant within healthcare and social services. Before employment can be finalized, a background check will be conducted where you must present an extract from the criminal record. In this recruitment, the extract referred to is called “Check your own information in the criminal record.”
