Police Region East is organized into three police areas (PO): Södermanland, Östergötland, and Jönköping, which together are divided into nine local police areas. Furthermore, there are three regional units: the operational unit, the investigation unit, and the intelligence unit, a regional office, and national departments represented in the region to support police operations.
The Jönköping police area is divided into three local police areas: Södra Vätterbygden, Värnamo, and Höglandet, an investigation section, and an office. The investigation section consists of twelve groups handling crimes in close relationships, serious crimes, emergency investigations, fraud, surveillance, and crime coordination.
Description of your future workplace
In the Investigation Section of PO Jönköping, there are two fraud groups. The groups investigate fraud and other economic crimes. Within the groups, there are group leaders, preliminary investigation leaders, police and civilian investigators, as well as financial investigators.
The fraud groups apply a staff-driven working method where new methods and directions are continuously tested. Currently, there are three financial investigators in the group. They work as a team and have significant influence over case distribution within the team.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
A financial investigation aims to find evidence, map individuals and networks, investigate motives, and secure assets for future confiscation or compensation. As a financial investigator, you are expected to independently and collaboratively conduct financial investigations within preliminary investigations and in cases of surveillance nature. A large part of the work consists of gathering, processing, analyzing, and compiling information from banks and other financial institutions. You should be able to present your analysis to the preliminary investigation leader and provide recommendations for decisions and/or further actions. As a specialist in financial investigation, you are expected to develop the skills of your colleagues and take on the role of an expert in criminal economics and financial investigation within the police area. You will also assist with your expertise in interrogations or other external operational measures to some extent. With us, you will have a breadth of tasks, and there is an opportunity to manage and handle your own cases related to criminal economics. You can work alone, but often you will be part of a team on a case. Your work will be a crucial piece in mapping criminal economics. The feeling of contributing, knowing that your expertise can find the right clues to move forward, is very rewarding.
QUALIFICATIONS
This is an opportunity for you who have:
- Swedish police exam, in accordance with the Police Ordinance (2014:1104), or an academic degree in economics or other relevant academic education for the position
- Several years of current experience in investigative work within economics/finance or another area deemed relevant by the employer
- Good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing
We consider it an advantage if you also have:
- Work experience in written and oral presentations before a group
- Experience in compiling and writing reports and decision support
- Experience in work where analysis has been part of the assignment
- Very good knowledge of Excel
- Experience working with cryptocurrency and/or bookkeeping
- Work experience in combating organized crime
- Work experience from a bank or other financial institution
- Several years of experience in financial investigative work and/or investigative work from a law enforcement agency such as the Swedish Police Authority, the Customs Agency, the Coast Guard, the Tax Agency, the Economic Crime Authority, or the Prosecution Authority
- Work experience from an auditing firm
Personal qualities
You are a meticulous and curious person with a very good analytical ability and a developed sense of structure and methodology. Furthermore, you are an engaged person who can drive work forward in an innovative and independent manner. You must have a good ability to define and prioritize within the given assignment. You must also be stress-resistant as the workload can be high at times. Since a large part of the work is characterized by collaboration and contacts both internally and externally, great importance will be placed on your personal qualities and ability to collaborate. A high sense of justice and security is a prerequisite for being able to operate in the role.
