School Nurse for Grades F-6 in Sala Municipality

Job Responsibilities

In Sala Municipality, student health is an important part of helping all children and youth succeed. Student health should encompass medical, psychological, psychosocial, and special educational interventions and is part of the school's educational mission and the overall work for good health. The promoting and preventive work should be emphasized and conducted in a salutogenic manner and with an inclusive approach. As a school nurse, you will be part of the school's student health team and have close collaboration with the principal, school counselor, special educator, teachers, school psychologist, and school doctor. The work as a school nurse is varied, and you collaborate with internal and external actors such as social services and the region. You will belong to the central student health in the municipality, and a close and developing collaboration and systematic quality work within the central student health is an important and fundamental part of the job. You will work at the municipality's schools, and together with other staff, we strive to increase the well-being, health, and knowledge development of children and youth.

As a school nurse, you contribute nursing and medical expertise as support in students' learning. You work according to applicable laws and regulations for student health's medical interventions and participate in the school's student health work by:

• identifying symptoms early during health conversations that may indicate the need for extra adjustments or other interventions
• investigating and assessing the physical and mental health of individual students
• in collaboration with other professionals, contributing to increasing knowledge about a healthy lifestyle among students in the form of health education in class or group
• providing knowledge about risk and protective factors for students' health, social situation, and learning
• open reception for spontaneous visits and offering simple medical interventions/assessments
• offering vaccinations according to the general vaccination program for children

Qualifications

You are a licensed nurse with specialist training in health and medical care for children and youth, school nurse, or district nurse. Previous experience as a school nurse is an advantage. You have a desire to further develop the work as a school nurse together with the student health team, teachers, and other colleagues at the school, as well as with the other school nurses in the municipality.

As a person, you are curious, independent, flexible, relationship-building, persistent, meticulous, and always have the student in focus, contributing to a positive and pleasant work environment. You have the strength and ability to further develop student health in Sala Municipality together with your colleagues. You have a good approach, can build trust with students, have a good ability to plan and prioritize while being flexible in situations that require it, and have the ability to collaborate and see students from a holistic perspective. Personal suitability is highly valued.

All documentation is done digitally, which requires that you are computer literate. Experience with using the PMO journal system or similar is an advantage. A B driver's license and access to a car are required.

Employment Conditions

One-year temporary position, full-time. Start date according to agreement. Individual salary setting.

Requirement for a background check upon job offer. This is according to the law on background checks within school, leisure, and preschool activities. The National Police Board's criminal record, RPS 442.5 (14-01-14)
