We are looking for Foster Homes in Karlshamn Municipality

As a foster home in Karlshamn, you will take care of a child or a young person in your home. Sometimes we look for placements for sibling pairs.

No special skills are required to be a foster home; what is needed is security, structure, but above all, a lot of joy and heart.

A foster home can look different; the home can be one or two adults with or without children. Whether you live in the countryside or in the city, in a house or an apartment - all are needed. Coming from different cultures and backgrounds is only enriching.

To be approved as a foster home, you will undergo a foster home investigation. The requirements to start a foster home investigation include:

• That you have emotional space to welcome a new family member.

• That you have extracts from the police's criminal and suspicion register, the Enforcement Authority, the Social Register, and the Social Insurance Agency.

• That there is a free room available.

• That you master the Swedish language.

Personal suitability is crucial for the assignment, and it is an advantage if there is experience of similar assignments.

When you are a foster home, you welcome a child who needs extra support and care in your home. We provide regular guidance and hold training for our foster homes. We are available by phone 24/7.

Your new family member will participate in the daily life of the home, where the foster home should serve as a good role model for the placed child and provide care, engagement, and security.

The placed child should have the opportunity to participate in the family's own activities and family life.

Some children or young people need to stay in foster homes for a shorter period, while others grow up in their foster homes until they are ready for their own accommodation.
