Information about the assignment

As a foster home, you will take care of a child or young person in your home with support from social services and guidance from a foster care consultant. The children are aged 0-19 years. Your role is to be a secure, stable adult with the main task of supporting and integrating the child into your family and society. It is important that the family has a stable economy and a separate room for the child/youth.

As a foster home, you care for a child or youth in your home who needs extra support and care. The child/youth often comes from difficult circumstances. Personal suitability is of utmost importance, and experience in similar assignments is an advantage but not a necessity.

We offer continuous guidance and support to families and are always available around the clock, with a personal foster care consultant assigned to the family.

The foster parents receive compensation for the assignment equivalent to an average part-time salary.

Investigation

To work as a foster home, your family will undergo an investigation by trained consultants. In-depth interviews, home visits, and background checks from criminal and suspicion registers, social registers, the Enforcement Authority, and the Transport Agency will be conducted.

After a successful investigation, a matching investigation will also be conducted to see if the placed child/teenager matches with your family.

Our comprehensive investigation is conducted for both your sake and the sake of the placed child/youth.

Our task is to do everything we can to ensure that a child/youth gets a good foster home where they can feel safe, develop, and grow as a person. Unfortunately, research has shown that many placed children and youth have suffered in their foster homes over the years; we want to avoid this and ensure that the individuals we place have a good experience in their foster homes.

An investigation is also important for your family; by getting to know you during the investigation process, we can make a good match with a child/youth that fits with you. We want to provide you as a foster home with good conditions for the assignment.

More about our company

YogaKloster is a retreat farm in the countryside just outside Borås. We have a broad community engagement, and part of our work beyond the retreat farm is to investigate and guide adults who receive children and youth as foster homes. We call this part of our operation YK-foster homes.

YK-foster homes have been working for several years to guide and support families in a foster care assignment. Our mission is to seek, investigate, and then guide foster parents who receive children and youth in crisis.

The work in the foster homes is conducted as a social pedagogical effort in close collaboration between social services, the foster home, and YK-foster homes. The fundamental idea for the assignment with the placed child/youth is based on the premise that the individual develops in interaction with other people, environmental factors, and various professional roles. By creating a secure base with a well-assessed foster home in accordance with the National Board of Health and Welfare's guidelines, a pathway is offered for the youth towards increased ability for an independent life.

YK-foster homes focus on providing sustainable, secure, stable foster homes that open their doors with great heart to needy children and youth.

YogaKloster AB has a permit from IVO (the Health and Social Care Inspectorate) to conduct foster care operations.
